An image you wish to use/insert needs to be hosted on the net somewhere....right click, copy and paste into the forum text window....that's it...

If you go to ImageShack, you can download their sidebar extension into FF (not sure about IE) and upload your images to ImageShack on the sidebar, without having to open a new page/tab...and copy and paste the image url from there.

I prefer Picamatic - a site for hosting images on the net with extremely easy interface - works faster and easier than other sites of such kind! All about usability!

while on the subject of linking.. what syntax do you use for links in the description of your skin? tried [link] and [url]... did i do something wrong.. or?

You can't use any html/bbcode in skin description, it won't parse it. Just paste the link as it is and it will be turned into a clickable link.
