My money is on Supreme Commander, as I still play Total Annihilation. I've never really enjoyed any of the Command and Conquer style games. TA is just so much more visceral.

Command and Conquer: 3 looks very nice though.

One of my very first computer games was C&C. In fact, I bought the game for my 486/33mHz and had to upgrade the motherboard/cpu to a DX4/100mHz just to play it. Boy was it worth it. That game is my roots and one of my top five games of all time. So I'm exactly the person EA is confident will buy its new game.

I never played Total Annihilation for some reason, so most people would think I'm biased towards C&C3. The icing on the cake is that since SupCom needs more computing power than C&C3, I might lean towards EA's release.

Reality: I will buy both games, but after following them both closely since their announcements, I'm looking forward to SupCom MUCH more than C&C3. The bottom line is SupCom will reinvent the strategy aspect of the RTS genre (with it's scale), and hence, the genre as a whole (since strategy is obviously the main focus). C&C3 will just be another C&C game, albeit with more flash and advancements.

If I could only get one game, it would be SupCom, hands down.

I've already pre-ordered both, but I guess I ordered C&C more or less just to keep my collection complete.
Supreme Commander on the other hand will most likely take the position Total Annihilation held for several years, i.e. the one of the game being played almost continually for as long time.
This inofficial sequel is (well, apart from a Master of Magic 2, of course) the one I have been waiting for longest.

I've been a die-hard C&C fan for years, and the way this game is coming out looks fairly promising. The only serious issue I see with it is that it's not really bringing anything new to the RTS genre, other than the ability to broadcast your matches on a massive scale (think RTS as a big sport), and the hardcore competitive nature the game seems to portray.

In my opinion, if you got the money, buy both of them. If you only have the money for one though, then buy SupCom - seriously, the game looks kickass beyond belief and has a scale that's never been done before, so it definately has my vote as the superior game.

When the shine has dimmed a little from Dark Avatar I think supreme commander will be first on the list and C&C3 will follow a few months later.

TA was by far the best RTS of it era, I loved the huge maps and its modability.

My 1st encounter with C&C was Generals... Love it...its actually what led me to GC2. Thanks to a kid i know i've since aquired the entire C&C collection.

But.....I liked TA and Starcraft even more..DA is set to release not soon enough.

Supreme Commander. It's the only modern, good RTS with that many good innovations. C&C 3 on the other hand is an attempt to milk the once good C&C series. I don't have high hopes about it since I've read what a few of the people who played at the community summit had to say about it.

Actually, the hefty system requirements for SupCom put me off. Its just not for average/marginal systems. As the owner of an average/marginal system, I realize Im out. It could be great, but Ill never know...the demo ran like crap for me. My loss, Im sure.


However the CC3 demo I found surprisingly appealing...its much easier to "get into" from a story/single player standpoint. I'm a sucker for old school live action full motion video though. Both games seemed like "another RTS" ,albeit better looking, to me, but Ill probably pick up CC3 for the entertainment factor as a diversion until the SoaSE beta starts in earnest.

Supreme commander actually was a challange at first but when you get more playing hours in the game you see the AI is sort of retarded and not creative enough to combine it's attacks...

Yes it does cover it's armour with atry, and AA units and covers it's navies and airforce but it just doesn't combine all three branches together to make you multitask.

then again i do like the game it is daring and it really worked out only not hard enough to provide a decent challenge but far better then C&C

i have seriously stopped playing it... I like the gfame especially as it also works great on weak PC's but the movies just suck... and my PC ain't that bad i can play the game on high settings and it runs smoothly but the movies... they just suck...

i have played one act for the GDI and the NOD and i have stopped now... it just ruins my entire experience that the movies suck so much...

even patch 1.04/1.4 (can't figure out what it is) doesn't work i'm sorry to say that EA has scewed up yet again after BF2, BF 2142 and now C&C they have just deliverd without sufficient testing earned their money and now only fix sowly...

Something i haven't seen here actually here tests are run and we are asked soooow eventually i'm staying here for now i'm hooked again...

I've played C&C3, and I gotta admit, it's actually pretty good! Sure, most of the battles revolve around spamming tanks and building crazy fast, but it's actually pretty damn fun once you get the feeling of it! Hell, even most of the review sites seem to agree: they've all given the game some pretty high praise and all, so that's most definately a good sign!

I've played SC for half a year now (beta and retail) and CC3 for only a a few hours.

So SC for the win!!

Honestly my two favorite RTS's of the last several years are Dawn of War: Dark Crusade and Rise of Nations: Throne and Patriots. I've been playing RoN on and off since the release of the original game 4 years ago, which easily makes it the RTS with the best legs in my gaming history (and I've played most major releases in the genre back to Herzog Zwei, which invented it). I'm big into single player, though. If you're after a good MP game specifically I wouldn't be able to help you.
