The Republic of Magaria

The Republic of Magaria

I thought I would give a shot at an AAR. This is my first AAR, so hopefully all will go well. The story is going to be based on a game I currently have going, and since this is my first installment it is mainly backstory. My next installment will probably be full of action, the game is set on suicide level with intensive algorithms. So here it is, The Republic of Magaria.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

The Republic of Magaria
"The Beginnings"

The Magarians of Magaria, had for years looked to the stars, ever wondering what was out there, and what wonders they may hold. Never knowing the dangers and evil that may inhabit the worlds around them, the Magarians, with their ever growing technological know how, tirelessly broadcast signals in hopes that someone out there would here their lonely pleas. This went on for centuries, broadcast after broadcast, so, to the Magarians, it seemed as if they were truly alone, adrift in space.

Throughout the centuries of isolation, long after their home world had been united, the Magarian’s fascination with the stars, and what lay beyond grew stronger with each passing generation. The fascination was almost so great, it became a sort of religion on Magaria. The Magarians believed their destiny lay in the stars, and that one day they would find the answers to their existence out there. Eventually they developed primitive space flight, but that only allowed them to travel to the nearest planet in the Magarian system, Itarcus. Luckily that planet was habitable, but just barely. The colonization of Itarcus took place soon after the Magarians first visits to the planet, and the event was celebrated with almost religious fervor. The newly elected idealist Prime Minister, Atarmis, dedicated the day with grand celebrations, and ordered for more research into more worlds beyond the Magarian system. The colonization of Itarcus was also of great use because the population growth on Magaria was unsustainable, and it was hopeful that it would solve the problem.

Then, almost a year after the Itarcus colonization, on the day some would refer to as "the end" and others "the enlightenment," an alien starship came cruising into the Magarian system and went into orbit around Magaria. Atarmis nervously answered the alien ship’s hail to the planet. After lengthy talks and meetings, the Humans of Earth presented the Magarian people the schematics for a hyper drive engine and a universal translator, as a gesture of good will. Prime Minister Atarmis was delighted that the first contact between the Magarian people and an alien species was so peaceful. He also came to find out that the Humans were also very new to the galactic scene, and that the starship in orbit around Magaria was their first interstellar starship. As soon as the Humans were well on their way, Atarmis ordered the construction of a new colony ship and survey ship, using the new hyper drive engine the humans had graciously given them.

Within six months, the industrious Magarian workers had constructed both ships, and because of the research done in the past year on nearby planets, they knew approximately were to send the ship. Along with the colony ship they sent out the new survey ship, RMS Artourus, to aid in finding a habitable planet. So they both set off, and to the Magarian’s surprise the neighboring star system, Cassius, contained two habitable planets. With colonization under way on the new planet Sokora, Atarmis cranked up the pace on colony ship construction. It appeared that most of the stars contained a least on habitable planet, so the race was on to spread the influence of the Magarian Republic, before others could claim the worlds for their own.

Atarmis could not help feel weary though, because before the Humans departed, they told him of a great evil race another species, the Acrean, had told them about. The Drengin, as he was told they were called, enslaved other races, and would not hesitate to destroy any race that got in their way. But Atarmis believed that the benefits of colonization far outweighed the risks, and pushed forward with the colonization of all nearby worlds. The Magarian people were also more than happy to move on to new worlds, it had been the dream of generations of Magarians to touch the stars, and now they were finally able to do it. With so many planets in sight, the Magarians left there home world like seeds scattering to wind. People who decided to stay on Magaria were actually looked down upon, because they were not pursuing their inherent destiny.

But what no one could have foreseen was the evil that awaited. Because, like the Humans, the Magarians were naive enough to believe that all the space faring races would be advanced enough to have long ago abandoned war and violence. Also like the Humans they had dismissed the rumors of an evil Drengin empire as myth, but they couldn’t have been more wrong. The Magarians would have to once again learn the art of war, something that the Magarians had not done in a millennia.

“The Border War”

With the beginning of the war with the Drengin Empire, all available ships were moving toward the Drengin border in hope of bringing the war to them this time around. Commander Arlin, Brini, and Wasad were all ordered to the border, being the best military commanders the Republic had. On the first of May the Drengin fleets began crossing the border.

Arlin relayed to all fleets. “Multiple enemy targets spotted prepare to engage all fleets!”
Brini and Wasad responded. “We see the targets, moving to intercept.”
“Preparing to engage Drengin fleet 344, standby for assistance!” Arlin commanded.
“We are also preparing to engage the enemy along the lower Drengin Border.” Brini said to Arlin.
“We took heavy fire but Drengin Fleet 344 has been taken care of, now preparing to engage Drengin Fleet 312!” Arlin said to the rest of the force.
Wasad radioed in, “We are preparing to engage Drengin Fleet 194, please standby!”
Arlin responded. “We have taken care of Drengin Fleet 344, but we have sustained major damage, moving back to pick up reinforcements.”
“The Drengin are taking major damage, the entire Drengin Fleet 194 has been taken out, standing by for further instructions.” Wasad reported.

With the upper border cleared of Drengin ships for the moment, Brini engaged the enemy Drengin along the lower border.
“Preparing to engage Drengin Fleet 208, we are beginning to take heavy fire! We have lost a ship, now another!” Brini shouted over the Com.
“Do you need assistance?” Arlin asked.
“No, I think we will be fine, we have almost taken care of them, and then we will move on and halt Drengin Fleet 176.”
Arlin responded, “Understood.”
“Fleet 208 destroyed, engaging Fleet 176! They have a massive battleship that is proving harder to take out, but we got it, the rest the fleet is crumbling!” Brini reported.
“Pull back from the border, a second wave of Drengin Fleets are coming in, prepare for hostilities!” Commander Arlin reported to the fleet.

Then the second wave of Drengin fleets crossed the border and Drengin Fleet 275 engaged Brini’s Fleet.
Brini shouted. “We are under attack by the Drengin, but I think we can hold them off!
“Our sensors are picking up more enemy targets in your vicinity, prepare for possible contact.” Arlin reported.
“Understood, fleet 275 destroyed!”
Then Drengin fleet 330 engaged the smaller Magarian fleet 168, commanded by captain Yorik.
“This is Captain Yorik, of the Magarian fleet 168, we are under heavy fire by a Drengin Fleet, we are in need of immediate assistance, someone please respond!”
“What is your current position, Captain Yorik?” Arlin asked.
“We are currently right along the Drengin border, we are just an aid fleet, please help! We can not hold out much longer!”
“Understood, we are coming to your aid Captain Yorik! What is your status?”
“Shields are failing, they are getting ready to….”
“Captain Yorik, I didn’t catch that, please repeat! Captain Yorik do you hear me!” Arlin shouted into the Com.
The Com. Officer turned to Arlin. “I’m not picking up there signal anymore, they are gone.”
“Damn, lets go get those Drengin bastards! Move out! Arlin commanded.
“Good luck Arlin!” Brini said to Arlin.
“Engaging the enemy Drengin! Lets blow their battleships to pieces. If we can clear out this second wave, we can maybe hold the Drengin back. The Drengin fleet is taken care of. Moving on to engage Drengin Fleet 340!” Arlin reported.
Wasad reported in. “We are now engaging Drengin Fleet 146, they are no match for us, they will be taken care of quickly! We got them!”
“This is the Sivil System Defense Force! Drengin fleets are approaching Sivil IV, we are preparing to engage. Please standby for assistance.” The Sivil Defense Director said.
“Make sure you hit them hard, sorry we let that fleet slip through, we are starting to get spread a little thin.” Arlin told the Sivil Defense Force.
“No worry, we’re engaging them now!”
“Be careful, they are moving quick” Arlin warned.
“We got them the Sivil System is clear, heading back to patrolling.” The Defense Force reported.

As the battle across the Magarian and Drengin sectors continued, ships on both sides were destroyed by the hundreds. The battles slowly became more and more of just a slug matches between both sides, the fleets would just go back and forth engaging each other till one or the other was destroyed. With losses mounting quickly on both sides, the fronts became clearly established, no ship could make it through one or the others line. Also to compound the situation, Prime Minister Atarmis received word that the Drath Legion had succumbed to the Yor and Acrean, and had decided to surrender their remaining worlds to the Thalan Empire.

With the collapse of the Drath Legion, Atarmis knew it was only a matter of time before the rest the galaxy got involved in the current conflict between the Magarians and Drengin. The question to him was, who would be the first to enter this war, and on who’s side. As the war settled to what amounted to a border war, the panic that initially had swept the Republic, subsided a bit. Instead the panic was replaced with a feeling more of aggravation that the Magarian people would have to deal with the horrors of war once again.

With the battles once again heating up, will progressed be made on the Drengin front? Will the war spread across the galaxy?

“The Great loss”

Back and forth the Magarian and Drengin forces engaged each other, the Drengin would cross the border and attack Magarian fleets, once destroyed the Magarians would cross the Drengin border and be destroyed. With the war becoming more and more ugly, and losses quickly mounting on both sides it looked like even if the Magarians could win the war, they would be too weak from the conflict to stand up to any other enemy. Then on the 15 of May 2228 help came when it was most need.
“Incoming transmission from Netro Mancer of the Altarian Republic.” said Atarmis’s secretary said.
“Thank you put it through!” said Atarmis
“How may we be of service to you today Netro Mancer?” Atarmis hopingly asked.
“We see that your struggle with the Drengin is not going so well, and we also do not like the Drengin, for they are the evilest of evil empires. So since you have been nothing but kind to us, we thought we would repay the favor, and aid in your war by declaring war on the Drengin Empire.” Netro Mancer proudly announced.
“Thank you , you do not know how tiresome the Drengin have been, they are ruthless and have been laying waste to our fleets, we thank you for your help!” Atarmis said in a thankful manner.
“We take great honor in helping our good peace loving friends.” Netro Mancer said as transmission was ceased.

Now with the Altarians in the war against the Drengin, it was hoped that the war may finally be tipping to the Magarians favor. With the Drengin fleet now preparing for an attack from the Altarians, Commander Arlin decided to push into Drengin territory to go in for the kill.
Captain Brini transmitted in, “We are preparing to engage the last enemy Drengin fleet in Magarian space.”
“Good, we are pushing into Drengin territory and preparing to assault the Drengin core system of Poseidon.”
“Engaging the Drengin, and they are taking heavy fire! We got them, preparing to join you.” Brini reported.

With all Drengin fleets in Magarian territory eradicated, all Magarian fleets moved into Drengin space and prepared for the invasion of Poseidon II, one of the best planets in the Poseidon system.
Arlin reported over the Com. “We are preparing to engage the Drengin defense force in orbit around Poseidon II, prepare for the ground invasion Wasad.”
“We are already ready to go, just waiting on you!” Wasad reported.
“Ok, we’re heading in. It looks like they have pulled out all their ships, except for a few defenders, this won’t be a problem at all!” Alrin said surprisingly.
“It should be a picnic for you then, hope you have fun.” Wasad jokingly said.
“I was hoping for a good fight, they are already taken care of, go ahead and go in Wasad.” Arlin said.
“Preparing for the ground attack! We will be landing on the coast of the eastern most continent, that is were the major cities and the capital are.” Wasad reported to Arlin.
“You are go for invasion!’

Wasad’s forces engaged the enemy, but their was so few Drengin left on the planet that their defenses quickly were overcome by the Magarians overbearing numbers. To the surprise of everyone, the planet of Poseidon II contained a precursor mine, that made this planet ideal for ship construction. With the fall of Poseidon II, the Drengin fleets began to crumble as one by one the Magarian fleets took them out. The planets that the Drengin Empire once held began to fall to the mighty Magarian forces, for they had been, for the most part, emptied for transports. By June 8 2228 the Drengin planets Poseidon III, IV, and V had succumbed to the Magarian forces, now the target became Drengi itself, and the Drengin knew it.

With the way now cleared the Magarian fleets headed to their prime target the Drengin home world of Drengi.
Arlin reported to the rest the fleet. “We are preparing to engage the Drengin home world defense force, standby for assistance.”
“We are standing by.” Captain Brini said.
“They have a huge fleet, we are moving in! We are taking heavy fire, but our shields and weaponry are holding. Almost got them, their ships are starting to fall apart.” Arlin quickly relayed to the rest of the fleet.
“Do you need any assistance?” Captain Brini asked.
“Nope we have taken them out, Commander Wasad it is your turn!”
“Very well, preparing to disembark for Drengi, we are going to land outside the capital this time, in the plains between the city and the mountains.”

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Commander Wasad knew this was going to be the greatest invasion of any war, he was going against the strongest ground forces on the most heavily defended planet in the galaxy. He knew in his mind that this battle could tip the balance of power in the galaxy, and make the Magarian Republic the superpower of the galaxy. With all this in mind, he landed the Magarian invasion fleet in the Draconian plains near the capital city of Drengi.
“Preparing to charge the enemy forces, sending in the shock troops!” Wasad reported to Arlin.
“Ok, and good luck, we will keep in touch.”

With the ok to go Wasad sent in the first wave. As he watched across the expansive toxic Draconian plains, he could see the first wave quickly charging the Drengin lines who had also began to charge. From behind the Drengin lines he could see the balls of plasma cannons rising above them and crashing into the Magarian lines, then the Magarians responded with the same. The whole scene seemed so surreal to him, it was like watching a movie play out it didn’t seem real. With the first wave fully engaging the Drengin troops, Wasad led the charge of the second wave down the hills to the plain below.

Like the wind they rolled down into the plains slaughtering every Drengin in sight, but Wasad was determined to get to the front lines to take out the Drengins who had for so long preoccupied his life. He and his main force pushed through and broke the Drengin lines, and then he was hit. Everything suddenly seemed to move in slow motion, he could feel his feet give out from beneath him, and as he fell to the ground upon the toxic dirt, he could see the horrors of the fighting. Wasad could only think while he felt his life slipping away was, how he had spent the whole of the past years fighting the Drengin, instead of at home with his family. But finally he was relieved of the pain that he carried of the deaths of so many Magarian troops he had led in battle, he could finally let go.

When the forces saw that their great commander had fallen, they went into a rage and pushed through the Drengin as if they were paper, and took the planet with astonishing speed. They had won that fight for Commander Wasad, for he never got to see the end of the war, the defeat of the Drengins.

With the Death of Commander Wasad, will the Magarian Republic be able to continue? Who will next challenge the power of the Magarian Republic?

Great story! If you had given more backstory and personal information about Wasad it would be more of a hit to the reader. I have been off for a bit, just read from my last post til now.

I'm happy you guys like it! I should have another installment out sometime today, probably late this evening.

If you had given more backstory and personal information about Wasad it would be more of a hit to the reader.

Yeah I thought about that, I might have to release a more extended version at some point.

“The Galactic Breakdown”

With the Drengin Empire quickly collapsing and their planets falling, with no hope of salvation, The Drengin surrendered on the first of July 2228, but they surrendered to the Yor. The second Drengin war was over, but the cost far exceeded that of the first Drengin war. The social effect of the war was not quite so high this time, for the Magarian people had grown more numb to the atrocities of war. The greatest effect though was the Death of Commander Wasad. Commander Wasad received a grand state funeral back on Magaria, Prime Minister Atarmis presided over the funeral, and gave the final farewell speech.
“Commander Wasad was one of the best commanders and captains that the Magarian Republic will and ever had. He was never afraid to lead troops into battle, for he commanded countless ground offensives against the Drengin and the Human. May he never be forgotten, for all that he accomplished shall live on in history.”

When the funeral ended Commander Arlin pulled Atarmis aside, with some disturbing news.
“Prime Minister Atarmis, we have just received word that the Yor Collective has declared war on the Thalan Empire.”
“We need to prepare an official response condemning their actions. With these new developments, I think it would be best if you and Brini would move your forces to the border with the Yor. I think we need to intimidate them a little bit.” Atarmis instructed.
“Sounds good to me, we will head out in a few hours.”

After hearing the news of the of the Yor attack, Prime Minister Atarmis went to address the victory party on the Magaria Capital Plaza.
“We did it! We fought the Drengin and were once again victorious. Though the price of the war was staggering, we continue to be free and no longer have to worry about the Drengin invading us, they are conquered. The Magarian people once again had to suffer through the horrors of war, but they did not let it effect them, we stood strong, and shouted with one united voice, That we will fight for our freedom! So let us not forget those who made the greatest sacrifice for this grand Republic, for they are the true heroes of this war! Let us move forward to a bright future.”
As Atarmis ended his speech, he had once again electrified the people of the Republic, but he knew in the back of his head trouble was not far off.

After the victory speech, Atarmis made his way to the Congressional Building on the other side of the plaza, where he was to give his condemnation of the Yor attack on the Thalan Empire.
“Representatives of the Magarian Congress, one of our friends the Thalan Empire has been attacked by the Yor Collective. I am here today asking you to pass a measure condemning the Yor Collective for this abrasive attack, and to send aid to the Thalan Empire. I hope this is something that is passed with the utmost speed, for the Thalan may not have that long. Thank you and I will be hoping for the measure to be on my desk by morning.”
With the end of his third speech of the day, Atarmis was finally able to go and get some rest.

As expected the measure passed the Congress almost unanimously, and the aid the Thalan so desperately needed was sent, with strong objections from the Yor Collective. With the war between the Thalan and Yor dragging on, the Yor Collective was kept occupied. By November of 2228 the galaxy was relatively quiet place, the exception being the Yor-Thalan war, but all that began to change on the 22 of November 2228. The Torians declared war on the minor civilization, the Jessuins, this in itself was not a major concern, but it was a growing trend in a evermore unstable galaxy. From then till the February of 2229 threats were thrown back and forth at one empire to another empire, until the Yor decided to expand their war against the rest of the galaxy. On February 22, 2229 the Yor Collective declared war on the Torian Confederation, also on the same day the Dominion of Korx declared war on the Torian Confederation.

With situations across the Galaxy quickly spinning out of control, Atarmis thought it was time to try to figure out maybe how to throw some water on the fire. But before he could do anything, his secretary came running in.
“Prime minister Atarmis, this just came in! The Altarians have declared war on the Yor Collective and the Dominion of Korx, and they want to talk to you.”
“What! Ok put Netro Mancer through!” Atarmis asked.
“Prime Minister Atarmis, it is an honor to meet with you again.” Netro Mancer said.
“How may we help the mighty Altarian Republic today?”
“Well, we need your assistance in our war against the Yor and the Korx, will you join us?” Netro Mancer asked.
“I don’t know if we can, we just got over the second Drengin war a few months ago, it is asking a lot.” Atarmis said.
“If you don’t the galaxy may fall to the evil civilizations.” Netro Mancer warned.
“I know, I’ll see what I can do, but I can’t make any promises.” Atarmis reluctantly said.
“Please make your decision soon, we will need all the help we can get!” Netro Mancer said as transmission was closed.
Now with war looming once again, Atarmis had to for the first time decide if the Magarian Republic would make a first move.

After consulting the Magarian Congress it was agreed that the Magarian Republic would help the Altarian Republic and declare war on the Korx and the Yor. With the war started Arlin’s fleet engaged the Korx.
“Preparing to engage the first Korx fleet, I believe we can take them!” Arlin reported to Atarmis
“Good, we got to make this quick, I don’t want another prolonged war on my hands.” Atarmis said.
“We got them preparing to take on the next fleet!” Arlin shouted over the Com.

With battles now taking place all over the galaxy, the war was truly becoming a galactic war of epic proportions. Then on the 22 of March 2229 The Yor Collective crazily declared war on the Acrean Empire, at this point the whole of the galaxy began to unravel and fall into chaos. Then on the first of April, 2229 disaster struck the Magarian Republic. Lord Vega of the Acreans contacted Prime Minister Atarmis.
“Prime Minister Atarmis, we will not standby while you conquer the whole of the galaxy for your self. We are declaring war on you to halt your aggression!”
“What! We are only aiding the Altarians, we have no imperial interest!” Atarmis tried to shout back, but Lord Vega had already ceased transmission.

With the entire galaxy at war, how will the Magarian Republic manage to survive? Will there be anybody left at the end of the war?

Here is the fifthteen installment, the end of the road! I hope you enjoy.

____________________________________________________________________________________

“The Fall”

Suddenly facing invasions form all sides, Atarmis ordered all ships to all borders to help hold enemy fleets off. But the fleets were not able to mobilize quite as quick due to the fact the enemy was swarming in, in overwhelming numbers. One of the worst things was the Acreans went for the economic jugular, they took out the Magarian trade routes with the Altarians. With fleets being attacked everywhere, holes were opened up In the Magarian defenses, enemy forces then began coming in and conducting raids on Magarian core planets. Atarmis was furious, he had not prepared for a war around the core planets, the main Magarian fleets were out amongst the border planets.

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

With the sudden turn of the war widespread panic gripped the planets, for if the core planets were being attacked, the end must be near. Then the ultimate betrayal happened, the Altarians seeing a weakening rival, made their move. Netro Mancer contacted Prime Minister Atarmis.
“Prime Minister Atarmis, with you now in a weakened state, and our income from you gone, we no longer have any use for you, WE WANT YOUR WORLDS!”
“How in the hell can you do this to us, we came to your aid when you needed it, we have been nothing but a friend to you. Now you backstab us, you will suffer for this injustice.” Atarmis angrily shouted at Netro Mancer.
“You are weak you have transports near us, and frankly we just used you, prepare to meet your doom!” Netro Mancer snapped back.
“You are the lowest of the low, you will never have our worlds, we will defend them till the very end, we will destroy our worlds before we let you set foot on them. GO TO HELL!” Atarmis belted back, and ceased transmission.
Atarmis knew though that the Magarian Republic was in deep trouble, he quickly ordered Arlin back to Magaria to establish a blockade around the planet to protect the capital. Then a report came into him form Altura along the Acrean border.
“This is the Altura defense force, we are taking very heavy fire and our not equipped to handle this size of an attack, we need emergency assistance!”
“We will send help as quickly as we can, but we are overwhelmed at the moment, what is your current status?” Atarmis asked, but there was no reply.
“Get me the governor of Altura!” Atarmis barked at his secretary.
“Governor! What is your status, I can not get a hold of the defense fleet?”
“That is because they are GONE! We need help now, the planet in under fire, send an evacuation fleet!” The Governor in a panic asked.
“Ok, Ok we are sending some transports for the civilians now, be prepared to evacuate!” Atarmis ordered the governor.

Then a message came in from Macrinus IV.
“This is Macrinus IV, we are being invaded by the Korx, our defense force is gone and troops are landing, we need HELP!”
Atarmis answered, “we are sending transports for the civilians now, be prepared to be evacuated.”
Atarmis under increasing amount of stress contacted commander Arlin.
“Where are you, what is your status?”
“We are in route to Magaria and the Core worlds, we are moving as quickly as we can!”
“Hurry the hell up, we are having to evacuate the civilians for the border Core worlds, we are under attack from every side.” Atarmis shouted to Arlin
“We will be their soon, just hold on!” Arlin said trying to calm Atarmis down.

On May first, 2229, Atarmis received word that Macrinus IV had fallen to the Korx, and that the entire population was slaughtered before they could be evacuated. Then the Hector and Petroni forces transmitted to Atramis.

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

“This is the Hector and Petroni systems defense forces, we are retreating to Magaria, we can not hold out any longer against the Altarians, send evacuation transports to the planets effected immediately.”
“We have received your request, and are sending the transports, fall back to Magaria, and we will reorganize there.” Atarmis relayed to them.
On 15 of May, 2229, Arlin finally made it to Magaria to aid in the defense of the capital, but Atarmis had just received word that the planet Tilmar had fallen to the Altarians. Atarmis contacted Arlin.
“We need a new strategy. Our planets are falling left and right, we need to push our enemies back.”
“Agreed, we can not afford to let anymore of our planets fall. We will push back as quickly as we can!” Arlin responded.
“Where is captain Brini, I have not heard from him recently, he has not answered any of my hails.” Atarmis asked.
“I regret to tell you his fleet was wiped out by the Yor along the Yor border when they were trying to evacuate civilians off of Poseidon III.”
“Shoot! Why wasn’t I notified of this sooner? Atarmis demanded.
“The Yor have taken out all the sub-space relays across the border sectors, we have no communication from there.” Arlin responded.

On the eighth of June, 2229 Arlins’ fleet engaged the Altarian fleet heading for Magaria.
“This is commander Arlin preparing to engage the enemy fleet!”
Atarmis responded, “Be careful you are our last hope!”
“We are taking heavy fire, they have six battle ships! We have lost a couple of ships already!” Arlin, in a panic reported.
“Pull out Arlin we can not afford to lose you, get back here NOW!” Atarmis demanded.
“I can never withdraw, it is not in my blood! Our shields are beginning to fail, but I think we can take them.”
“Get out of there now, you are in extreme danger, GET OUT NOW!”
“Our shields are failing! Prime Minister Atarmis it has been an honor serving the Magarian Republic, you believed in me when no one else would, I could think of no better way to go out, protecting what I cherish most.”
Atarmis called back. “It is not too late, pull out, save yourself!”
“I can’t, it is too late, I won’t abandon my fleet, promise me you will not let the Republic fall, it is the last light in this galaxy.” Arlin said as a thunderous boom was heard over the Com.
“ARLIN are you there, come in Arlin, SPEAK TO ME!” Atarmis commanded.
It was of no use the Altarian battleships had destroyed Commander Arlins fleet.

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Now with the loss of Commander Arlin, Atarmis was alone. On the 15 of June the report that Togura had fallen came in. Then Altura fell to the Acreans, with few fleets left, the planets of the Magarian Republic began to fall to the aggressors. With barely any fleets left near the core planets, the government fled Magaria.
“Prime Minister Atarmis, the Altarians are coming, we are evacuating to Betelgeuse, we believe we can hold out longer their!” Representative Remir told Atarmis.
“I can’t believe this is happening, shouldn’t we stay and fight! This is our home world, we can’t just abandon it to the Altarians!” Atarmis responded.
As most of the Congress fled to Betelgeuse, Atarmis received word that Zabra had fallen to the Altarians and that Altarian fleets were heading for Magaria. At the same time word was received that the Thalan Empire had finally given in to their enemies.
Then on the 22 of September the Altarians invaded Magaria, and Atarmis refusing to leave his beloved planet, prepared to command the ground troops.
“We may not survive the day, but let this be a battle for the history books! We will not surrender our home planet without a fight, lets take as many of the Altarians out with us, for this is our home!”
With Atarmis’s fateful speech, the Magarian ground forces prepared for engagement. The Altarians charged the Magarian forces protecting the capital city, they came down with the furry of the gods. They struck and blasted through the Magarian lines, laying down millions of troops, as they began a tidal disrupter bombardment. Atarmis with the anger of the Magarian people, led the last charge against the Altarian shock troops, put they were completely wiped out upon the capital plaza, and the Altarian general approached the injured Atarmis.
“You may have this planet, you may conquer the galaxy, but you will never destroy the sprit of the Magarian people, we will be avenged!”
With that the Altarian general shot Atarmis with his plasma pistol and the Great Prime Minister of the Magarian Republic was killed.

With the fall of Magaria, the Magarian Republic quickly began to collapse and fall to its enemies. Though parts of the empire continued to hold out it became only a matter of time before the rest of the planets and the temporary capital, Betelgeuse would fall, and finally they did.

Though the Magarian Republic seemed strong, and they were, they were just no match against four enemies. Through betrayal and manipulation the Magarian Republic had been undone, and for now this was the end of the road for the Magarian people. Maybe one day the Magarian Republic will rise again.

I really hope everyone enjoyed this read, I had a lot of fun writing it. Everything that took place in this AAR was taken directly from the game I was playing, and transformed into a narrative. Again I hope you enjoyed, and I plan on writing more, feel free to comment!

Thanks, AlexAtticus

Great AAR, enjoyed the read very much.

It seems that the Altarians are not all that nice as there are made up to be. Never liked them that much any way. lol. most times in my games I end up in wars with them.

I can't believe what a tragic ending ensued!
That was a good read but it also SUCKED if you know what I mean.

Thanks for all the responses, I didn't realize how many people were actually reading it!

The game was going great and it looked like I might be able to pull off a win, but at the end it was classic gang-up. The attacks from the Acreans and the Altarians were totally unexpected, I didn't see that coming, I just wasn't prepared for it. I guess that shows just how great the AI is, they're just waiting for you to have a weak moment.

As soon as I get the feel of DA, I will probably start another AAR, since this one got so much attention. The Republic of Magaria was done with version 1.4x. I expect that DA will add all sorts of new possible plot twists.

Thanks,
AlexAtticus

Just got back to finish reading this and I gotta say, it's one of the best I've read. I definately hope your planning to do more. Too bad on the outcome, you really looked to have it under control for a while there.
