Metaverse Council looking for some "at large" representatives

The Metaverse Council is looking for a few "at large" representatives. So far most of what the council has accomplished has been the definition of internal council procedures, voting and the like. We're currently discussing our first "real" issue which is the definition of the AltMeta brackets. A fair amount of detail has been discussed but so far nothing is set in stone.

We'd like to get a number of additional members on the council that represent points of view that may currently be under represented. Exactly how many representatives we're looking for may be dependent on the number and quality of the potential candidates. We're probably looking for somewhere between 2 and 4, but don't quote me on it.

I want to make a strong caveat emptor that anyone desiring to be a representative should be prepared to read and write a *lot* of long, confusing posts.

With this in mind we'd like to hear from people that are interested in volunteering to be a metaverse council representative. We're also interested in folks wishing to nominate others.

In my own personal opinion (one that's not necessarily shared by other council members), someone that expresses a large degree of interest in being on the council is a more attractive candidate than someone that's very popular but may not be as interested in it.

Also one area of under representation on the current council is the newer metaverse player. I would encourage folks without a whole lot of metaverse experience to consider this as well. We do require that you've submitted at least one game to the metaverse but that's the only requirement other than a willingness to serve.

I might be interested in the 'new player' position, even though Ive been a player/member since the original game. Ironically I just started my first metaverse game last night and even more ironic my first character's name is Representative BastianEX. Go figure right?
I guess my only questions would be what exactly would my role/duties be? These 'long and confusing posts' what would they entail? I dont mind the reading part, Im already on the forums quite a bit lately.

Even though my 'fearless leader' has gone missing (or at least I assume so since I haven't seen anything from him) I would still like to nominate Wheeloffire. He had some good ideas regarding the Metaverse and the game in general and also seemed to show an interest in it. Barring the obvious 'personality' traits that Wheel has demonstrated, I really do believe he would be a good candidate for what you are asking. Obviously it helps if the man is around, duh, but I believe we will be hearing from him again... or at least I hope so. He always had a knack for entertaining me...
I would've liked to join in as well, to some degree, but alas, until my internet woes are overcome I don't foresee posting a Metaverse game for quite some time.
PS: My work computer will not run this game, or else I would've went the 'start game', 'save game' routine.

I am also interested in the "at large" position that you are posing. I've been dormant for a little while but I'm getting back into things, and would love a chance to serve the community. I have plenty of free time most days, so reading and writing should not be a problem at all. Just point me in the right dirrection and I'll do whatever is needed.

Thank you all for your responses, you all will definitely be considered. Please keep them coming. Also I would expect that there's space for more than just one new player but again that all remains to be determined.

I can make no promises but I expect that the more people that are interested the more people that we'll accept. Also, yet another thing to determine is a way to shift from our initial formation by appointment by the four "major" empires to a more representative elective process. I'm sure that we'll all sooner or later wish to be relieved of this weighty responsibility. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you don't get picked now do not be discouraged because I assume that people will come and go and once the current set of folks tire of this (believe me when I say this is a *lot* of work) we'll need people ready and willing to take over.

TGE is indeed correct. Actually any and all are welcome to monitor our conversations at the Metaverse forum at the Galactic Core. Anyone can read, but if you want to post your opinion you'd need to register which only requires an email address.

Indeed Mumble is not kidding when he mentions there will be alot of reading, but once you are up to date with the current topic threads it's quite easy, and we are looking at ways of streamlining the information so people can get up to date and keep up to date quickly and easily!

I msut say as a late comer to the Metaverse Council (MVC) I am quite impressed with the caliber of minds working on things!

Looking forward to hopefully seeing some new members soon!

I'd love to serve as a 'rogue' rep, but as you can see I was recruited...

I'd suggest all players consider joining in on what could be the birth of a true players representation group to Stardock.

With the current plan, we will accept 3-4 new reps. If participation and interest grows we will add more reps.
