Problems with an Asus a8n32 SLI Deluxe

I recently purchased some new hardware and I am unsure on a problem I am having with my new build.

Important Parts:

Asus A8N32 SLI Deluxe
athalon X2 4200
thermaltake 600W PSU
evga Geforce 7600gt 256mb
G.Skill 2gig pc3200

Situation:

Computer posts fine and gets to the windows loading screen (XP Pro) finishes loading windows and the it black screens, on both monitors. I have to then reboot the computer and hope i loads the next time, sometimes i does sometimes it doesn't this happens everytime i turn on my computer, with maybe one exception. I have done a bit of research and i think it may be a bad ram module. i was wondering if you maybe had any suggestions or advice.

Thank you,

A fresh install of XP if that's the first dual in your system.

What I would do first is try loading into Safe Mode (F8 while booting, before the XP load screen). Go to safe mode and then reboot...go to safe mode a few times and see if loads ok without issues. Rebooting again into safe mode each time.

If it's loading Safe Mode ok without issue, then it most likely is a driver problem.
Could be just about anything, memory, display card or driver. Sometimes even a faulty power supply can do it. You can narrow down the memory, by taking them all out, try 1 @ a time, in each slot. Although on this particular board it may not post with a single stick of ram in certain slots. I think for single ram useage, it must be inserted in slot4 to post. When using only 2, use slots 2 & 4.
Trying each of them by them self may help you figure out if 1 out of the 2 is possibly bad or not. Can also get memory tester program here for free and test the ram sticks. Windows Memory Diagnostic

If you not really going to loss anything, I would just do fresh install of XP (besure to wipe the partition when reloading XP)

But if u have alot of important data to backup first, u can do backups in Safe Mode, if you need access to your network or optical drives in safe mode, select Safe Mode with Networking from the F8 menu. This will enable basic network and access to CD/DVD drives.

Need further help you can email or IM me...

Ahh, that must be it. The San Andreas is at fault.

If you still have the problem and think that the RAM is faulty, you can download and burn almost any bootable diagnostics CD and run Memtest86. This program will rigorously test your RAM for any defects. Testing can take a while but the program has always worked well for me in the past. Best to find out as soon as you can if you need to return it.
