Hello I was reading the Heavy Equipment thread and I had a thought.

How about having a single thread where you can request updates to some of the old school bllinds or ask permission if you have updates available?

I know for myself I lack skills but I wouldn't mind to see an update to this awesome blind by SkinStudio.

how about all of the "dinks" versions by greyhaze, he created those wb's years ago and the overall design & the gui elements he created for those themes are still comparable/if not even better than alot of the wb's being released nowadays. Unfortunately if you try to apply them in a winxp environment you end up getting alot of system errors, they were probably created for early versions of wb (v3 or 4) for a win3x/win9x environment. I'd love to see him to update those wb's and make them work in a winxp/wb5 environment.

Check them out, they're still in the wb gallery: look at the design of the windowframe elements, the min/max/close buttons & other windowframe buttons , the scrollbar thumb buttons, push buttons, etc - all of these items are quite excellent.

I wonder what greyhaze is up to these days, I don't see any recent work being submitted by him.

Yeah, add MetalX also I think it is the plugins causing problems nowadays though.

- MetalX is awesome, I can't believe I didn't mention it.
Greyhaze added tons of custom buttons to his wb's, something that isn't being done alot with most of the newer skins that have been released lately.

He had buttons on the windowframes for activating winamp, opening up some custom wb menu for adding shortcuts, rollup/down window commands among many other features (shortcut to the desktop, etc.)

His stuff is great, I'd love to see it updated to support the newer wb5 features.

Here's an idea...it may be too complicated to achieve, I dunno....

A contest where maybe 5 to 10 skins are made available for update (you'd need permissions) and it would be open to anyone who has NOT made or submitted a WB.

My thought on this is that some folks can't make a skin from scratch, but know enough to tweak and such.

Possible?
