I want my old logon back

i don't like the program

Hello guys,

A few weeks ago i wanted to change my PC to Vista. But my specs are to low so i can't run it. But with some Visual styles you have your own version of Vista.

And i wanted a Vista Logon screen so i downloaden Logon Studio from Wincustomize. 2 days ago i wanted my old log on screen back so i press the button to change it to change it to the XP standard logon. But it's not the XP logon, its with blue and green colors.

How i get my old XP logon screen back?

Help...

Do you still have Logon Studio installed? When you press the "Restore Original XP Logon" button, does a small window pop up saying "Original Logon Restored, Logon Studio will close?".

That's what should happen when you restore the original, and then you can uninstall LS. What happens with your system?

Hmm, I really don't know. If you set it to restore your original logon, it should do that and shut itself down.

Do you or have you used any other logon changing programs? When LS is running, it creates a .logonuiX.exe and XP uses that instead of the original .logonui.exe. When you set it back to default, then XP will use the original .logonui.exe.

You could try reinstalling Logon Studio and try to set to default again, sometimes that will work.

Or if you have Windows Defender, you can go to "Tools", click "Software Explorer", and under the "Startup Programs", disable Logon Studio and then reboot. Create a system restore point first, but that's what I would try. If it works, then uninstall LS.

Other than that, I'm out of ideas. Good luck.

He gave you good advice, sounds like you didnt use it.

Use system restore to go back before you installed Logonstudio.

Why would you format a drive just to get rid of a logon?Seems extreme.Worst case, your stuck with a non XP logon.Try resetting the logon back to default while in safe mode.

I turned mine off just like Boss said...it worked perfectly...course I immediately turned it back on.

Which brings on my question ...unless Logonstudio is stopping you from booting or logging on,why would you want to get rid of it?I'm curious.

Here's a solution you might want to try, though it is a bit drastic. Create a restore point or back-up before proceding.

Navigate to Windows > System32 and delete logonuiX.exe. Then go Start > Logoff - don't panic! - Windows will use the classic logon prompt instead of the welcome screen for you to logon with. You can then open LogonStudio and click 'Restore default XP logon'. All should then be back to normal.

Check out Logon Loader WWW Link

They have a Logon Recovery tool to fix a corrupted logon. I've never used it but you might give it a try.
