Increasing Node Count

So far I'm loving this game.
I do have a quick question.
How do you increase your personal Node amount in the game?
I know you can buy nodes from the priate base, but is there a way to cash in the nodes picked up after a Dominator battle and add them to your rangers total?

Fly to any Ranger station, on the menu screen there's an option to add the nodes to your node account.
