Win98 go or nogo?

Bought the game 2 days ago...Stardock won't let me install it because it says you need win 2000 or higher to install...any work arounds on this issue? I submitted a problem ticket to refund my money but I really want to play this game.

Civ4 requires 2000 or xp and runs just fine for me.

Anybody have any ideas or am I screwed.

Also, does anybody know/think if the retail CD package would load for me? I bought the online version to avoid starforce. Or is the retail version a DVD? (I don't have a dvd on this computer).

Thank you for all responses.

Don't know about Stardock, but the retail box says it should work with Win98. It's not recommended though

The retail version is a dvd, so it doesn't suit you.

So far starforce hasn't presented any problems to me, but I took the precaution of taking a complete system image with trueimage before I installed. I recommend the same procedure to others too.

Thanks for the reply Saakutarallaa.

Now all I need is to hear from Stardock on my open ticket. Frogboy you have any 'pull' in that area? LOL

The game *works* with Win98, I've played it with that config without any problem, and my (English release) game box indicates support of Win98 in "minimum" and "optimal" config, but not "recommended" one ...
This release is the Excalibur-published one, a Starforced-DVD containing SR1 and 2, dunno if it's still available as it is a couple years old.

I suspect the good solution would be to change the installer's check to allow Win98 for this one on TGN (even if now it's becoming quite rare).

We require Win2000 or greater for Space Rangers 2 because that's what the North American publisher lists its minimum requirements as.
