My God, I'm a noob!

Yet another annoying question, eh?

Hey guys, sorry to bother you, usually the online-gaming for games is pretty straight-forward, but Metaverse is a bit different... Atleast for me that is. Anyway, I was wondering how you play vs. other people, not CPUs, which gets boring after a while. There's a blank lil box to the right of the screen, my guess is that's where games are supposed to be, but there's none   . Either I'm a complete moron and don't know how to join/host games or some people need to get online!! (Probably the moron, but lets hope for the best   .)

The simple answer is...

You don't.

There is no multiplayer option. The Metaverse is more like an online scoreboard to compare your games with other players games.

Actually, it has been discussed to death around here.

It may make you feel better to know that multiplayer is a possible addition in an upcoming expansion.

Still, I'm not holding my breath, or losing any sleep over it.

Moostek is right... Multiplayer on GC2 has been fought over ever since the launch of the game. The reasons for are so small against the reasons against that we barely give it any thought. As for that empty box, that's were any awards/status's that you see in the rack underneath my post go, once you have earnt them. It's not a place for games at all!

The general consensus is that they may release a MP-only expansion when Society's internet MP framework is up sometime next year.

Guess what... there is already a 'defacto' multiplayer. You start a game and then after a few turns, use the cheat codes and take over one of the AI players. Your freind can then run this empire.

The drawback is that you have to share one computer and wait for each other to have their turn. Oh i'm not sure you can war with each other(having never tried it)?

So all that really needs to be done, is to make it possible to play that race on another computer instead.

The drawback will always be waiting for the other player/s to have their turn, no matter how many computers are involved.

Unless there is some type of real-time play, it really seems like an impractical idea. Especially if there are more than two players involved.

Yes definately, i remember trying the multiplayer in Alpha Centauri... Hopeless! At least the multiplayer in Civilisation lets you micromanage while the other person has their turn. This feature would also make a Galciv multiplayer bearable.

Who needs multiplayer when you got so good AI?

Ok, you wait while I design my new, Huge Battle Cruiser. I think after an hour or so, (including your turn because I started the design while you were playing) you will disconnect. Just a guess.

I'm suprised by your post! Sounds like you don't know that designs can be saved??

You can design a cool ship, and save it before installing active components. That way, all you ever need to do during a game, is fit active components.
