BSG 75, for those who aren't hip to this groove, is the call letters for the Battlestar Galactica.
For two years, people have been needling me about watching this new series, and I've hemmed and hawed. Because I saw the original Battlestar Galactica in the late 70s, and while it was entertaining as a kid, it's not something I'd watch as an adult. But, eventually I relented and watched the remake Battlestar Galactica pilot miniseries, and holy excrement! This show has substance. In fact, it has so much substance, I'm surprised it's still around since networks seem to love cancelling any show which might entice an audience to think. Easier to keep the masses in line if they're fed a constant intellectual diet of drool. But enough of my media conspiracy theories.
I just wanted to post this so that if anyone out there has been on the fence about checking out the new BSG because of their memories of that last cartoony, campy, schlocky show of the past, that they might get off that fence and try it out. I'm glad *I* did. It's rare that good entertainment has any longevity - see "Firefly" for an example - and so when something does, I want to publically notice it.
So go check out BSG at your earliest opportunity - PARTICULARLY if you're a middle aged person like myself that saw the old series - you'll be amazed at the difference. Oh - and check out Firefly, too. Awesome series - very sad it didn't last.
