The unit Bush was in contained many young men with connections and at that time National Guard units were NOT sent to Vietnam. Bush told his economics professor at Harvard that his father’s friends got him both into the Guard and the early Honorable discharge. I personally communicated with this professor. The military Records Bush released that he got from DoD contained a copy of the order that GROUNDED Bush for not taking the REQUIRED Physical. Thus I have PROVEN what I have said about the Bush Guard service and no matter how many times you refuse to accept these facts that is what happened.

The dirty little secret is that there is nothing wrong with liberalism. The Republican Party was founded on the ideal of liberalism. Liberalism was the driving force in freeing the slaves. Something the mean evil conservative Democrats opposed. Somewhere in the late 50’s the Democrats were losing power and started to mimic the enemies ideas in order to stay in power. Over the span of 10 years the Democratic Party convinced the country that they were the liberals and the Republicans were the evil, homophobic, anti-feminist, money grubbing conservatives. Look at the history of each party. All through the Jim Crow era the Republicans tried to change the laws but were stopped by the evil Democrats. What happened is the Democrats gave liberalism a bad name and the people that are forced to re-write what a conservative is are angry at having our good name and ideals misused and abused just so they can gain power. Now that conservatives have elevated the name conservative to a level of respect again the new liberals are mad that the name they ran into the dirt is not working for them any more. Shakespeare said it best. A rose by any other name would still smell just as sweet. By contrast you can call dog shit a rose but it does not mean it will smell like a rose.
Please don’t misunderstand I don’t mean that the rank and file Democrats were complicit in this subterfuge it was really the Republicans fault. Our good ideals were stolen and we never bothered to explain to the people that the party of ideas had their name stolen. People gravitate to what they believe is right. Our ideals done their way and the ideals turn to crap. But the basic ideals are still good just twisted. The new conservatives are still true to those ideals even under the heading of evil conservatives. This is one of the reasons that the new name only helped them stay in power for 40 years because sooner or later people start to expect results. They lost power 12 years ago and in those 12 years people forgot why the Democrats were swept from power. People that don't remember history are doomed to repeat it.

What you're not seeing here is that, at the time, Communism really was powerful and on the move all over the world, aggressively acquiring nations and people. That caused a lot of raw nerves. It really was a threat to us, at the time and still is, really, in a way.
In the 15 years since the Great Collapse---and especially since we've learned from their archives that much of their belligerency and aggressions in our direction were largely illusory and bluff---we've been lulled by the hard Left into seeing the Soviets as just another country gone wrong; just another nation we dealt with.
