super drengin

so i now when the drengin declare war they get a bunch of free ships, but what is this based on, i dont see how going from 30 ships to 1200 ships is very fair and also they seem to ignore all defense (ie att ship MD damage 2, def ship armor 10; but i take full damage (2) each shot.

Its by design but needs balancing.

See:

Drengin Issue Thread

There's also a comment there from Kryo about it

The more I read about DA the more I keep seeing the title MOO III.
To Brad and the other developers you've added elements that apear to make Gal Civ a FPS not a stratigic game. I had my heart broke by the way they screwed MOO III now it appears GC is headed the same way of putting "bells and whistles" to attract sales as opposed to inhancing the game experiance for your fans.
Just another example of how it sucks to get old as the things you love either die or sell out the thing that made them great.

Pshaw! I've got modest computing-geezer credentials and I spent *at least a year* being teased by the MOO III debacle before I had a chance to mis-spend my money. Stardock and DA are as close to the opposite of that as you could get while still being galactic 4X.

Don't confuse the addition of environment tech with some sudden "conversion" to MOO-land. And for goodness sake, if by FPS you mean first person shooter, you've lost me completely.

Should have said dumbing down a good TBS to bring in people who think FPS are Grand Stratigic games. In otherwords adding too many bells and whistles to attract people who will play the game a few times while adding elements that ruin the game for fans.
What I am reading is these "Stupid" er I mean "Super Abilities" unbalance the game to an extent that will steal all enjoyment of the game from me. At the very least give the option to not allow them. If not how about having Dregins ships be cheaper to maintain so that they can have more and an option not to have to go to war if aligned with Altarians but take a massive influence hit instead. Give options to people so as not to have to be a warmonger to have a chance to win.

'No Super Ability' is one of the possible super abilities. So you can easily play against all custom races with none, or just mod the core races to have no super ability (their super abilities can't be changed under normal circumstances) if you don't like them.

If unbalanced things is a problem, don't play the beta.

Thank you Kyro, but I am not a programer and would like the option to delete the SAs to be one click not to have to customize each opponent,if this can't be done so be it this is not a game breaker.

Frogboy, I was not bitching about the Beta being unbalanced but some of the SAs seaming to be so.
I am not a member of the Beta as I can not afford to buy a game that is unfinished which might and I say again might end up as no fun for me to play.
As I read the Stardock Forum I see things that are similar to what happened in MOOIIIs forums prior to its release, that you and your design crew read and interact with your fan base is the one thing that makes me believe that DA will be a fun game.
To finish I think most of what I read as being an improvement on DL, but I ask you to consider a change to the force DOW that the Altarians have to what I said earlier, with a massive Infflunce loss if one should refuse to join. An example as to how devastating this could be to a player; my systems are in one corner of the map the Altarians clear across the map, my nearest 4 opponents all evil and including the ones opposed to the Altarians (one being the Dregin)have me cornered, I am now surrounded by enemys my "ally" can not possibly support me and I'm outnumbered by thousands of Dregin ships (this from reports the Dregin SA gives them thousands of ships per opponant that DOWs them)as never having been a fan of playing "Korbiashi Maru" scenarios I have no option but to quit.
All in all keep up the good work.

Respectfully, if you're not playing the beta, perhaps you should post in the Dark Avatar forum and not here in Beta Reports.

I think I understand your point better now, but I also think the Stardock crew need all the help they can get sorting & filtering public response to the beta, starting with the fundamental cateogories "Playing It" and "Not Playing It."

So your saying as I have not the money nor the time to spend on the beta that my replys to peoples observations who are betas are unwanted?

Not at all. I've noticed several folks who are very interested in DA but not in the beta yet. I was just thinking it might help Stardock be more efficient when they want to look at feedback from the beta volunteers.

I guess I should have tried some thing instead of "Respectfully" on account of how often some folks say that when they mean the opposite.
