Nah, he seems like a naive little one to me. Actually kind of cute that "grammy" is getting if for him for X-Mas. Can't knock someone down who digs their grandma! As far as the spelling...

Besides, I like waiting for the big fish.

I know I know... spelling didn't used to get me until Firefox 2.0 came with a red underline system like ms word. Now the only excuse I see for it is using Microsoft Internet Exploder, which is a crime in itself.

Yes it is.

As for the OP, he's excited about the game. He's not whining about anything. I hope he gets what he wants for Christmas and becomes a great conqueror.

Speaking directly to gamerkid,

Spelling is power on a forum. Keep it under control and you have the freedom to say whatever the hell you want.

ok....how do get into cheat mode? i want to know how to cheat for hot seat BEFORE i get the game

LOL for dose NOT have a "a" it has a o

A) He said "as far as". That is both grammatically and punctually correct.

B) Does. Get your own right before correcting others

I agree with gamekid. I really want a HOTSEAT feature. I don't understand why multiplayer is such a bad word when it comes to GC.

Because it's a game designed for a single player.

Every game has a finite amount of time the developers can spend on it.

I'd rather they spend ALL of that time on enhancing single player, and not on adding hot seat/multiplayer. There are a lot of great hot seat games out there for you, try Space Empires IV.

That, and it's been done over a hundred times.

I'm not exagerating. The number would be hard to get, because of all the thread hijacks, but there's a reason kryo tried to limit it to one post, and it's a shame it got ignored.

MP might one day happen.

Hotseat never, ever will.

Single player games= complaints about lack of hot seat/multiplayer.

Multiplayer games= complaints about missing or inadequate single player campaign, bad AI, and/or faction balance.

MMORPG= complaints about player balance, tweaking, and griefing.

FPS= complaints about rockets and other explosives being overpowered and unfair.

You can't win.

Where did you hear that?

The IRC. I believe it was Cari saying that if they ever did MP, it would be done properly, and not hotseat.

See the advantages of the irc!

Are you sure that he didn't mean that when they do MP, they won't *just* add hotseat?

If you can get MP done, the hotseat part is easy to add, and IMO can be much funner than a normal mutiplayer game if you have the right people playing.

I know exactly what was meant, and you have no idea what requiring hotseat adds. Please join the rest of the morons who think it's "easy" to add.

What I said is that hotseat should be easy to add *when or if* multiplayer functionality is completed. In other words, if you're going to add multiplayer, it makes little sense not to include hotseat as well.

...

Except... it requires different coding/interface work than other forms of MP.

Let's cut the crap. It's not going to happen. And I'm going to stop replying to your mind-numbing posts on the subject.

Okay, I am not a programmer by an means. However, Hotseat is easy to add. I played a hotseat hack of CIV2 back in the days before civilization was ever multiplayer. and before the hack, we played it multiplayer by using the "change Civ" option in the cheat menu.

Sure it might not run "perfect", but it would not be that hard to do for a professional. Turn based games like this are just screaming for someone with the know-how to give the gift of hotseat.

This is a common misconception. There would be the obvious small interface changes needed for hotseat to work, but that's not really the problem. The problem is that the way the game is written large portions of the game's turn handling code would need to be re-written for hotseat or any other form of multiplayer to work.

If you want to use the crappy cheat method, go ahead and use the crappy cheat method.

If you want to go around saying "it's really easy to do", go do darwinism a favour and play in the traffic.
