I'm getting a hard..

...body.

Bet that title got your attention, didn't it?!

I AM getting a hard body...toned, and taught.

I've been trying to get back into shape after last year's accident...and it hasn't been easy. My activities have been restricted because of the damage I did to my skeletal structure and musculature.

Today, for the first time in ages, I swam over 1/2 a mile. This morning, before I swam, I did a complete yoga workout and managed a right angled handstand as well as 'crow' (it's handstand but your thighs are resting on the back of your upper arms).

Now, this may not seem like much to y'all, but to me, it's huge. I stood in front of the mirror this morning, flexing...and I have defined biceps, triceps, upper deltoids...my lats are coming in nicely and I have visible abs. My upper body is beginning to resemble Madonna's (that's the best resemblance I can give you)...now all I have to do is work on the lower.

My aim is to swim 1/2 mile daily for the rest of this week, then increse by a few laps next week, and so on....if I'm dilligent, I might be able to knock out a mile a day before school lets out for the summer. Yoga-wise, I want to be able to do standing splits and sideways crow..and if I continue to practice every day I think that's an attainable goal.

I'm feeling pretty damn good about myself today. I set out to do something, and I accomplished my goal. It's an awesome freakin' feeling. I just wanted to share it.

Nice stuff.   I've been hardening my body too....but I still have a nice protective layer of fat over the organs in the front of my torso!

Yeah, that was my problem too. Now, however, you can see the start of my '6 pack'. Dave and I have a contest going..to see who can get a gator belly first. I'm at a disadvantage, girls have to work harder to get that rippled look, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways.

So, how have you been hardening, Jeremy?

Just the basics.....ab curls and push up, though serveral different kinds of pushups.  A little bit of cardio too, but thats hard when you're a smoker.  hehe.

I mostly just need to change my diet.  Cut out the soda, snacks and sugary stuff.

Best of luck to you on your quest to regain you fitness. Trying to recover from serious accidents as you are can be very tough, so I find anyone that has the perseverence to move on and in escense "reclaim" their body, very commendable.

Yes, it was. More frustrating than anything else; I lost so much upper body strength I couldn't even bear my own weight (that's what breaking your clavicle and scapula will do for you).

Thanks to all for the encouragement...I really just posted this to toot my own horn; I'm so thrilled that I'm almost back to normal. Of course, I ruined what good work I had done this morning by eating a big slice of greasy cheesy pizza for lunch..but hey, I'll burn it off again tomorrow.

So, what's stopping you? I'm trying to eat better...I'm living in hope that one day I may be able to give up caffiene. Right now it's the only vice I have left: I quit smoking, I don't drink alcohol anymore, I don't have sex...if I didn't have caffiene I'd have a very dull existence (IMO), and I'm simply not ready to give it up yet.

There's a lot to be said for the power of endorphins - I've felt fantastic all day today, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow (more yoga and more swimming).

I have so much respect for your self discipline body wise. I am currently working on a less soft body I am dieting and just trying to be outside more. I am hoping to get a bikes and a trailor for the little guys so I can ride off some poundage. The trailor will keep me from using them as an excuse not to ride. I am pretty sure I have some muscle but like Jeremy said, I too have a nice protective layer of fat

I always wanted one of those!!!

I don't really think it's self-discipline; I've just found something I like to do. Yoga has always been enjoyable for me, and swimming is the one aerobic activity I can do with minimal pain.

I agree... I hate working out, but I love playing basketball. It's not the chore to do some hardcore excercising when it's fun... now if only I could find some people to play beach volleyball with. Or that I could make myself actually believe that jogging is fun.

I wish I could do that as well....jogging to me is just a chore. I detest it. I wasn't designed to run when I was younger (big boobs), I'm sure as hell not cut out to do it now (herniated lumbar disc and torn knee cartilage)...I just really, really, really don't like running (did I get enough really's in there to make it clear?! LOL)

I know this isn't the best advice, seen as though D is away...

but the best excersise you can ever do is have lots and lots of vigorous sex... My 6 pack is purely created from that... I dont do weights, situps, or anything like that... just sex...

Swimming is also good, but not as good ;)

BAM!!!

Muggaz, you're not fair!!!!!!!!!

Talking about 6 packs and sex....knowing full well I'm not getting any and have no freakin' hope of getting any until the end of the summer.....so not fair!!

Mind you, I should have an awesome set of abs this autumn!
