Why America is hated

Why America is hated

It may surprise some of you to know that America is not well liked or loved. Here are some reasons why

The mind set in most countries is doom and gloom, while the mind set of Americans is optimism and can do.

This annoys other nations because they can’t see what is so great about America and why their nation is not seen that way. When I worked in Europe I noticed striking differences in how we think of ourselves. If you look at a European passport you will notice they don’t smile. In America no matter what kind of official photograph you are always told to smile. That was the first thing I noticed. The same in the Asian nations I visited. Why smile life sucks and you’re stuck in it. That may or not be true but that is how it looks from the outside looking in.

The reason we defeated the Soviet Union is because we believed we could do anything! They believed we could do anything and gave up.

We have the American dream. The other nations of the world don’t have a dream other than getting to America. There have been about 1000 people that have left America to become citizens of other nations because of a dislike of this nation in any given year. Not bad over 200 years. How many millions of people try to get into America every year? Other than the United Kingdom which mirrors our way of life you don’t have many countries that are prosperous. This is because other nations wish to control how their citizens live. When a nation tries to bring everyone down to the lowest common denominator you have a nation of unhappy people. This was tried in Russia (Soviet Union) China, North Korea, and Cuba. Funny how their great societies have all crashed and burned in less than 100 years. Of the four only two survive as communist nations. Both nations are broke with their population starving and both nations have problems keeping people in their nation. China has moved from communism to a more capitalist type parliamentary government but it is still in transition.

From what I have seen around the world is that America is not hated at all. Goverments don't like America because we make them look bad. Every time a nation gets in trouble the first thing they do is call America. WWI we were called to help but had no respect. That changed after we won the war for them. WWII again we were called in to save Europe. The cold war was started by NATO not the Soviet Union and again Europe Dragged us in to help. My point, they don't like us but they need up because we win where they fail. Its not our fault they can't learn from thier mistakes.

My bottom line on that is: "An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind."

Glad you brought it up. It started when the President asked what was allowed and what was not. This was leaked to the press. Then the Democrats jumped all over it. It stayed in the news until the election and then died. Of all the reports of torture you read how many names did you read or did you just read that American and the President endorce torture? It is not that the media was wrong it was that they recycled the same old story for months. The only article where there was a witness lives outside the country. The person was interviewed on Sky news in Ireland. His story is not very believeable. The Time Magazine article told how we did nasty things to the poor detainees. That story went round the world for weeks and people were killed to get back at America. Then the story fell apart. It seems the witness made it all up and it never happend. that was the story where we supposedly tore up a Quran and flushed it down the toilet. The story was a mess for two weeks but the retraction lasted 4 hours.

That was not torture by the government it was a few people that lost it, disobeyed their orders and the UCMJ, they were caught, and punished, I believe they are all serving jail time.

Yes, I have they are the same people that say that keeping people in jail for crimes is a crime against humanity. They rarely if ever complain about China, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Syria, or a host of other nations that use torture as a matter of course. But America is bad because they jail criminals.

I am sorry that you took it as an insult it was not my intention to insult you or Mr. Greene. All I know of you or Mr. Greene is what you both have written and that is how you come off to me. If I am wrong please accept my apology.

Apology accepted. By no means am I that way, I may come off that way...and I'm trying not to, but there are still a few kinks so to speak.

You might have missed my post on the Uniform Code of Military Justice UCMJ. After the Korean Conflict around 1953 Congress set up the UCMJ so there were clear guidelines for the conduct of the military. It is a set of laws for the military and federal employees in war zones. Look it up, pay attention to article 93 and keep in mind that it can be punished by death. The results of the Church Commission put in place laws that prohibit torture by the CIA this was in 1975. The debacle was that the Democrats wanted a political soap box to stand on and since the President wanted to know how far can we legally go in interrogation to make sure no laws were broken the Democrats screamed as one voice that the President wanted to torture people. The reason you have not heard about it any more is the election is over. The policies involving torture have been in place for fifty-three years and have not changed.

Okay, there are those policies, however...how can you justify torture? In any form what so ever? How can you ignore the fact that there were people, even if they were terrorists, who were tortured. It doesnt mean they shouldn't be treated humanely.

This is very true! The only problem with your example is that it did not happen. The Time Magazine reporter after people were killed around the world in protest to the article was forced to retract it because he found out it did not happen. Oops, the person he interviewed made it up, instead of checking it out he ran with it. Too bad for the people killed in anger because of it but not to worry he says he is not at fault or responsible for their deaths.

I just read the documents and what the ACLU has as documentation if true is shocking. Hard to believe that members of the DOD would do such things. Bending thumbs back, having female agent touch the crotch of the detainees. I read this story months ago, and there are a few flaws in the story. First is that the Marines are not in charge of the prison at Gtmo it is an all Army gig, so having Marines as witnesses to torture is hard to believe, the Marines are not allowed inside the compound. Second was the fact that the FBI was allowed to witness the breaking of the law and did not make any arrests, but incriminated themselves in the commission of this crime by writing a report. You see if an FBI agent witnesses a crime and does nothing about it he becomes an criminal and can be arrested as an accessory. It is hard to believe that the FBI agents did not know the law, but reported it as a possible violation of the law.

But we do it, torture is torture - no matter what the degree of it. Police, FBI, CIA...their "interrogation" techniques are still torture. It's not right.

I'm doing something about it, you know what? Because I cannot, and will not stand by while it happens. I'm fighting it because it's wrong.

Europeans certainly do not hate Americans.

Politically the U.S tries to masquarade itself as a friend and ally of Europe, but everyone knows this is not true. Your politicians try to destabilize the European Union, quite successfully. This is not a gesture of friendship.

Maybe you don't see, but Europe and America are natural allies, a strong European Union would be better for the U.S than some loose group of countries. A weak E.U cannot defend itself against the hordes of Muslims immigrants, and if we got destroyed you will remain pretty much alone on the world scene. If we are doomed, you will be doomed too.

Perhaps you should re-evaluate your Europe-policy...

Ahh, and please, consider global warming as a serious threat. American pollution makes up the bulk of the pollution in the Earth, and everyone else sees non-compliance of the U.S to the Kyoto Treaty as irresponsible arrogance.

The Founding Fathers looked at every poor and negative aspect of the soverign nations of the world as they knew it, and sought ways to avoid them. They succeeded.

In the ensuing 230 years, we have built the most prosperous and successful nation in the history of civilization. We did, in less than 200 years, what many nations, in existence far, far longer, have failed miserably to do.

Well, when every nation in the world comes or has come to your door with flowers and hat in hand, asking help in various ways because they haven't the means to do it themselves, it, over time, kind of lends itself to an edge of arrogance; like it or not.
When you're the Vito Corleone of the international scene, with people humbly coming to you for favors and help, you do tend to see things from the position you hold. Sorry if that pisses you off, but oh well......

I mean, who is better respected? The motivated, can-do, successful man who does things for himself and gets things done, or the slacker? The failure who can't get his shit together and always needs help? Who? Which one?

Don't come here, then.....go ask the people in Darfur, or maybe Cuba or North Korea for help. Maybe Senegal could lend you a hand....they extort money from airline pilots and passengers to let their planes take off, even charging a fee to turn on the runway lights. We've saved the world countless times, in different ways, both war and peace. How much American blood has been spilled to rescue and preserve other nation's soverignty?
How many tens, or even hundreds, of billions of our tax dollars go overseas every year, in supplies and hard cash, to assist with disaster relief and to prop up the economies of lesser governments? Geepers. Are we arrogant?
