When I first had the idea of a "time card" type program it was going to be something VERY simple, just project and the time spent. Then after a lot of consideration I realized I work on a LOT of different Customers, Project AND Tasks for each of these.
I had been trying to work out how to do this, and decided to contact VAD_M to see if he had some ideas on how to make this complicated program. We started simple, start a project, pause it, re-start it, end it. Then we moved up a little to trying to work out several projects on each customer, then onto multiple tasks on each project. It was VERY slow going. In fact we started on this in JULY, going back and forth sending emails and tests between North Carolina (me) and The Ukraine (Vad), it's amazing how many emails it's up over 40 (and counting).
The problems were a lot different than you would think, the Russian version of Windows acts and works a LOT different than the US Version. There were issues with simple things like the decimal point in a number. I think it took about a week to work out just that one stupid problem. We worked on making it work on simple tasks.
Than after a long time of these back-and-fourths we decided to add some exporting capabilities, something simple, something on the screen to show the totals of each task/project/customer. After that it was decided we needed a more permanent output. A simple “TEXT” file output was setup.
I was so shocked when on the next build I received from Vad, he had not only built in a simple TEXT file, but also the ability to export out to Excel! Man, awesome! This went on for month, sometimes one build a week, sometime 3 or 4 times a day.
After months of work, and a lot of frustration Time Commander is now up and ready for the world.
If you track work by time, in any format (Hour, 1/2hr, 1/4hr, or by the min) this is the perfect PROGRAM for you.
PLEASE download and try the 15 day TRIAL version, or purchase the Full version at: TIME COMMANDER
I look forward to hearing your experiences with this program, and if there is anything you think should be incorporated into the next version, or if you have a need to deploy this in your business and want to work out a quantity deal, or even branding for your business, PLEASE contact me.
