Understanding the Radical Muslim

Having spent a little time in Arab nations I understand how they think and it is much different than the way we think.
For example; we want to negotiate in order to avoid bloodshed. They believe that if one seeks to negotiate the one seeking negotiation is weak and deserves death.
We are a nation that sees war as a last resort.
They see war as an opening move.
Our leaders must be men of peace.
There leaders must be winners of bloody conflicts.
Killing is abhorrent to us.
Killing is an acceptable means of negotiation for them.

Please don’t misunderstand and I know that most liberals will misunderstand but I will say it anyway. This is not written to say that our way is better than their way. These are facts; this is the way they think. An Arab or Persian man without a gun is not a man, his wife would laugh him out of the house if he came home without his weapon. This is why we can not negotiate with them. We can’t make peace with them. We can’t show any kindness unless it is backed up with an overwhelming high threat of death and destruction. Unlike liberals they don’t fear death as a people. Sure they fear for their spouses and children but the mentality is a man does not fear death. All leaders are Alpha males; in order to lead you must be ready to fight and kill all around you to make the rest cower in front of you. In order to be a leader over there you must be a winner. If you have any doubt that you will win you have lost your leadership.

This is why any dissention is seen as weakness and our President is weak in their eyes because he can’t control the press, or the people. Our way of government is strange to them. Go to some liberal country like Syria and say something bad about its leader in a public place. Within minutes you will be arrested, your wife and kids will be raped in front of you, your children will be killed and unless you have great political pull your wife will die before your eyes. Compare that to the vile things said about our president. He is weak because people say such things and he lets them live! He lets their families live!

People in America openly talk about pulling our troops out. Look at Sadam and how he handled a truly losing situation. At the end of the Gulf war he declared victory and held celebrations. What was the great victory? We let him live. The second time we went after him our troops were 500 yards away from Bagdad Bob and he was telling everyone on television that America had lost the war and that their leader was contemplating accepting American surrender. My point is that as long as they are alive they count themselves as they are winning and we are losing. As far as all Arab nations are concerned if we pull out the terrorist will be seen as the last man standing in the fight.

This is very good stuff...very good indeed.

We ought to make a mass e-mail or snail mail out of it and flood the DNC headquarters with it. Considering that Bush wants to get into bed with Iran and Syria, too...maybe even flood the White House.

Well done.

Sorry I am not all that political. I just call them like I see them. If the Republicans screw up you will read about it from me as well. I am a conservative, The current president is not, in fact the last three presidents were not. Kennedy Nixon and Reagan are the only conservatives in my lifetime. Kennedy was a lying racist fuck up. Nixon was a beaten man before he took the presidency because of Bobby Kennedy and Reagan followed through on every promise he made.

Which Arab nations did you live in, if you don't mind me asking?

Did a little sight seeing in Syria. Played around a little in Israel. Worked in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Did not get around much because it was easy to tell I was American but I got to talk with people and learn from them how they think.

An interesting perspective on how people in other countries think.

Thanks, but we need to be aware that only Americans think like Americans. Each nation has its own mindset and way of seeing things. To presume that others should or do think like we do is a recipe for disaster. The fact that we as a nation can cobble together as many friends as we have is astonishing.

I agree, walking in another countries' or persons' shoes for a day makes it easier to understand where other people come from. Why they are they way they are and think in that way as well. Good points in your post. Thanks.
