Metaverse scenarios

Wheel, what do you mean by sandbox scenarios?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, but I'm now intrigued.

When you choose a non-metaverse, non-campaign game, i.e., New Game, you can choose from the following scenarios:

Accelerated Start
Battle of the Gods
Classic Galaxy
Return of the Iconians
The Tactician
Torian Vengeance
Unlimited Power

They all look cool. The way the scoring is setup, it's unlikely that scores would be higher. As I'm pretty sure that you don't get points for research you didn't do and buildings you didn't build (from conquering,), scoring would stay the same or go down a little with the scenarios.

Adding a field to the Metaverse player profile that says "Scenario: Accelerated Start" would distinguish my score from another game that might say "Scenario: Normal."

I'm serious about being able to do this. It would breathe new life into the replay value.

Wow, I had forgotten about those. It would be interesting to see what people could do with each one.

I think Stardock has forgotten as well.

I'm going to preorder DA but I have no interest in beta testing. The preorder is a political decision--I want to show my support for the way they do business.

In the meantime, however, I want to find new ways to play DL.

Maybe Stardock can give people an incentive to play the normal scenario with a point bonus and scenarios get no similar bonus. I'd imagine that scenarios like Unlimited Power would be very short and low scoring games so there's no need for penalties for choosing scenarios.

Metaverse scenarios could be an easy 1.4.54 update.

Wheel, I must say, that is a brilliant idea!   

I really believe that the game, the Metaverse, the players, but most of all, Stardock, would benefit from this idea.

I hope they are watching......

We need people to keep seconding this idea until it gets up the chain.

Not entriery, I'm saying if the devlopers thought of it frist they would intergrade it into the meververse without a hitch.

They are human. That's why they need the fans to help them out on what people want from the game.

I'm disappointed at how slowly this thread is gaining support. It's being drowned out by the DA testers. Between now and February, there will be a lot of people that are simply not interested in beta testing. I might be interested by the third phase but I'm happy with DL and I'd like to spice up the metaverse.

This is a great idea, Wheel. Perhaps we could take the idea a bit further and have a tournament. The devs could chose one of the given scenarios, or perhaps write a small update with a new one. Then people could play a game and post the results; the winner could be given a small prize- perhaps a free download of DA. I have often wondered how my style of play would stack up against others on a truly level playing field.

I'm Metaverse-averse, but Wheel's idea seems like a good one for the score-oriented crowd.

Re the scenarios, I can say that the Battle of the Gods can help you refresh your thinking about ship design and planet development b/c you have "all" the choices at start. I'm guessing using Battle of the Gods in study mode with DA could be even better b/c you'd *really* have all the choices.

I am behind Wheel's idea one hundred and ten percent! Told you I would make it over here Wheel. As far as the beta testers, you have to be lenient with them, I mean, look how excited they are! Wait until some of the "shiny" has worn off a little Wheel and then hopefully your idea will get the attention from the forum/devs that it deserves. Again, good idea.  

This is a great idea and probably the only way I would get involved in the metaverse.

And the tournament idea would be awesome. It would be great having a Tournament Winner badge that you could win, or being able to challenge somebody to see who scores higher in a scenario.

Totally behind this idea it would only make the game better.

I haven't been playing metaverse for a while, but something like this could definately peak my interest and sounds totally doable. Seeing how people stack up against each other under the same preset conditions would be a blast. May even satisfy some of the multiplyer crowd(for a while, for they are rabid  ), as it would be kind of like a contest. You could see people challenging each other on the forums. I think it would bring the community closer. You would feel more like you were competing against other people and not just posting to a highscore list.

Wheel you have my support on this one. I wouldn't mind seeing a galaxy or five that all could d/l, play and then compare score to others. Good reason for another medal and AARs as well.

Only issue would be difficulty setting. Hard to compare score/play style with players on different diffulcity settings. But that could probably be sorted out too.

Not so bad for the rest, either. I'm facing a lot of other demands on my time now, so when I do get time to play I've been messing around with the DA beta and giving myself a rest from the normal game. Adding new play modes to the Metaverse would breathe some new life into the existing game and get me playing it again.

OTOH, it seems as though the whole Metaverse concept has become something of a pariah at Stardock High Command. I'm adding my voice here because I think it's a really cool idea, but we may have to offer the devs a few planets before we see green text in the dialog.

Ok, sounds cool, I'll give my support and say that I would like to see scenarios make their way into the metaverse.

Just finished a conquest victory on huge/tough.

Never played a non-sports game more than once. I played GC2 three times and won three different ways. I love the game but all good things come to end.

Only scenarios will keep the experience alive. I'm totally burned from huge. I don't want to know what gigantic is like.

Anyway... scenarios or DA retail--whichever comes first--will probably renew my interest. Peace.

I have made some inquiries within the fringe elements of my profession, and the current way of thinking is this: go slowly, and use plenty of lubrication, and it will stretch to fit. If you feel uncomfortable, just tell your partner, and he will pull out.
