So, last night I was in a mood to spend some money on frivolous things. I was planning on ordering a CD that I wanted, but I really only had heard a couple tunes that I liked from. Then, just before I pressed the "buy" button, I thought of BuyMusic.com.
Since the idea is good, I decided to check it out. So, I got on the site and started poking around. There is always the good, bad, and the stupid thing that makes you not buy:
They seem to have a lot of titles signed up
It seems like a straight forward process
You can listen to many of the songs "clips" before purchasing
It's cheap (most of them are $.99 each)
If you don't know what you are looking for, it's hard to find things
Their classifications are insane- what the heck is "Pop Metal"? (Silly! It's those metal artist such as Bon Jovi, Poison and Whitesnake...)
They have really annoying ads
Stupid thing that made me not buy:
I get to the "buy" part of this. I live in Michigan with an ISP who's registered in California (it's a Satellite connection). Obviously, Neither Michigan nor California is still in the US. They informed me that I could not buy from them because I was connecting from a computer outside the US......nice.... Obviously they haven't figured this all out quite yet.
Bottom line: It seems like it will be a really good service, but it makes me wonder what else they will screw up on if they can't even tell where my ISP is. They should spend more money on development and less money on annoying "fat lady dancing and signing" commercials.
I'm waiting to see if they answer my email to them........
BuyMusic gets a 1/2 coffee cup rating (at least they answered most of my email)
