Would someone be so kind as to tell me what the manual is like for the game?

Is it useful or useless?  I really wish there were an option to receive a hard copy of the manual if you DL the game.

This stinks I use the word g.ame and it makes a link as if I placed it there. It is nothing more than using user's posts for shameless advertising.

I will never use this forum again.

Well, that point aside (since lots of other forums do the same thing), the manual is available as both a PDF and as a separate application that reads in it in as HTML. It's definitely useful, but I've found that several of the things in the manual changed since the game was released.

Toothless[/B]: I gotta say that I agree with you. Those types of links are very annoying. And, as [B]Yarlen pointed out, a lot of other forums/sites use them. Which mean that they're just going to become another of those things that everyone hates, but everyone uses them, so we don't have a choice.

You can actually read the Manual (online version, identical content to the PDF) at www.SpaceRangers2.com.

Just click on the "Game Info" button near the top of the screen, and it walks you through all the details.

The manual has been updated in a few places, and doesn't answer EVERY question. For folks who want all the details for what's under the hood of a program, it's only vaguely satisfying. For folks who are happy to understand the high-level mechanics, and then figure out the other stuff during gameplay, the manual is just right. Depends on your tastes, really...

This is a VERY deep game, I think, and half the fun is exploring some of the unfamiliar bits of the game and seeing how things work. The original developers were Russian, and it looks like they skimped on the translation budget for the manual port to English speakers.

Still, the manual tells you more than enough to get you started and point you in some very specific directions!
