I am dazed, confused and lost...

I have read as much documentation as I can about DesktopX however I still don't get it.

I am not trying to create a desktop, I just want some fo the ones I downloaded to run. None of them currently do to the extent that I had hoped.

1) In every single one, the weather is for "Valley, United Kingdom" no matter what zip code I put in.

2) Yes, it skins the desktop but not the windows I open!! Why?

3) As I write this, I am using the Retro Pack desktop. It's supposed to include a skinned right click menu but I can't figure out how to get it to work!!!

Can anybody help this noob??

Sounds like something is blocking the script

Skining windows is done by Windowblinds, not DX. Downlad the trial if you haven't ever used it before.

Do you have Right-Click installed? This is another Stardock application

#1 - Are you connecting to the internet via a proxy server? Like at work? If so, it aint gonna work..

#2 & 3... exactly what Zubaz said. If you do have right click installed you need to set it to use the right click theme included with the DX theme.

Thank you both for your replies. Here are my answers:

1) Yes, I am trying from work.

2) I purchased Object Desktop but I didn't realize that you also have to install a Window Blinds skin. If I understand correctly, Desktop X is mainly there to provide access to Desktop gadgets and such, Window Blinds is still need to complete the look??

3) No, I didn't install Right Click. I will, thanks!

Thanks again for your assistance. I have a little bit of experience with Window Blinds but Desktop X is completely new to me.

you can also read the short descriptions of the various softwares here: WWW Link

and if you're using Stardock Central to download/install/maintain, you can highlight each component and get a description at the bottom
