Fix the problem

That is the preview...and that is also the enlarged image.

The icon in the associated zip file is a round 'globe-like' icon with the file date of the ico 21/3/06 ...and looks nothing like the preview.

You need to upload a new icon file...AND a new preview....that DOES match.

The current one will be deleted from the server specifically to prevent any cache/system confusion.

It is absolutely definite that the preview submitted is NOT that of the icon enclosed.....and is verified by 3 separate people...

I took a look at yoru profile portraits. You have some nice enough icons but your articles and posts have not been very positive.

It looks like peopel are trying to help and be understanding without all in return.

Maybe it *is* you.

This could be an error in the system, but in any case the file residing on the server does not match the preview.  Please try re-uploading using new file names, and a slightly different submission title to avoid caching or overwriting issues on the server.

Same problem.  Please rename the zip file (something other than MyComputer.zip).  This may be a result of the file being locked by some process and not allowing an overwrite.

Other unkind options (off the top of my head) 1) telling you to piss off. 2) ignoring you 3) mocking you

You have gotten the attention of two moderatord and one Stardock employee all trying to assit you get an icon uploaded. That sounds like a significant kindness.

You need to rethink your attititude or think about if you want to be a part of such an "unkind" community.

Well when you have a bunch of men with titles infront of there username, it tells me you think your better then us.(citizens). And the way that I was treated yesterday, telling me that I was to blame about the wrong icon being uploaded, boy that makes me feel unwelcome here. And all I wanted to do was just share my icons with the rest of the community.

By the way, the titles were awarded for being a contriobutor to the community. I got mine not for skinning, but for helping folks like yourself.

Hi portraits, Zoomba, Zubaz, Hankers and all. Nice icon portraits. I'll have to remember to take a look at what you have there portraits. My gig is screen shots. I'm definately gonna have a look at your library. Might be an icon or 2 in there that's stylish.

Exactly two things can cause a mismatch with an image and a preview...

Both are all about cache.

You upload a file...but use the same preview name as a previous file...and the site cache reads it as the same and the same preview image is posted to both files...fault there is with the namer/uploader of the file.  When it's spotted an email is usually sent...along the lines of....

"Unfortunately it failed to upload. The preview needs to be a full-size jpg image ...the small image is generated by the site. ...and the name must be unique to you...and only alpha-numeric." [that's a cut/paste from my 'list']

The other possibility is with they uploader's subsequent checking of the result....but getting the wrong image 'returned' because of what is STILL in their browser cache....that, too is not a fault of the site or it's moderators.

The only sure-fire way to guarantee no confusion/error would be any original upload be deleted from the server...[as I suggested in #1], or for the file AND preview to be uploaded with new unique names...as Zoomba suggested in #9.

The rest of this is a reflection of the unwarranted tone inherent in the thread title, along with the assertion that the fault was/is elsewhere, and to paraphrase - "your wrong" [sic]....

A simple polite request for assistance from the site's volunteer moderators would have been more appropriate.

Either way it was resolved....
