Stand alone ship designer application

Hi guys,

Just wanted to run this idea past you...

Inspiration for this idea come from the game "The Movies" where there is a little sub program called "Star designer" where you can create and save your actors and actresses that you created to disc, without having to load up the game to do it first.

Could this concept be used for DA? where you open up an application which is solely used for designing ships (using a modify part of the in game constructor) you could then save these ships to disc etc. maybe you could incorporate a race desiginer into this as well.

The devs would like to do it, but there is no time/budget to add such a thing (that may have changed with pushing DA back to February, but Cari's not in to ask yet this mornng).

Would be nice. Especially when you start up a new race you've never played before. Every new hull tech becomes a two hour interlude for me making new hull designs.

If you have a standalone designer, part of the interface should be to allow you to pick which techs/levels are available - the tech I see needing this the most would be to select the level of miniturization available.
