Do most of you Korx players choose to be neutral for the extra trade routes?

I'm polishing my game up to join the metaverse soon and I plan on using the Korx. Thing is it kinda bothers me that the neutral races get the 3 additional trade routes the Korx pay 9 points for.

So...all you Korx players out there, what alignment do you usually choose?

I don't play as Korx so I hope you don't mind me commenting on your post. I do play as neutral, but mainly for the instant PQ upgrades and morale bonus. The extra trade routes can by handy, but I don't think it's something that makes a huge difference in the game. If you rely on trade for more of your income, it might. However, if you're playing Metaverse, you'll be going big to score points. In that case, trade routes are much less economically significant. I've played Metaverse games where I didn't use any trade routes at all, but more often, I use them for diplomatic purposes.

I don't play Korx either, although right now I have played enough games as the Drath and am considering playing some Korx games. Anyway, the game has a cap of 12 trade routes total. Neutral shipping just gets you extra routes without having to go all the way up the Trade tech tree, but you need to do that to get the maximum 12 routes. Unless you start with extra routes, as the Korx default to, then you don't need all the techs. It also means you can set up more trade routes early in the game.

Personally, in a Korx game I would use my standard settings, which I don't think use any of the default Korx settings, certainly not the expensive trade routes. I would go Neutral, but the Neutral Shipping trade routes are a very minor reason why. I play a diplomatic-influence game, and I don't want to be attacked by the good races, nor do I want to align too closely to the evil races. Also, the increased Morale and instant planetary development and of course Neutrality Learning Centres are also great reasons.

I always play as the Korx, and usually stick with evil. The special weapons and galactic wonders sway it for me. I believe that with evil you will probably save more money anyway than you will gain through the additional 3 routes (starbase upgrade fees gone, plus if you get the wonder that allows free ground invasion techniques). Just watch out if you start next to the Altarians or those damn space Cockroach Torians.

Korx have some of the worst abilities the only thing going for them is there second planet, i believe its class 8.

I always play custom race but if i had to choose one of the 10 it wouldn't be them.

Neutral is the best alignment unless you want an alliance win imo

So...do the Korx have the worst racial abilities then for Metaverse?

Theres not a huge gap imo between any of the races but the Korx wouldn't be high on the list for my choice of fav race abilities wise. Old Charlie Korx is quite cool in other ways though.

The Drath have a great number of quality inbuilt abilties I think they are the best race after you customise them.

I have been playing the Korx a bit and like them for their flavor. What I have been doing to modify them is knock them down to two additional trade routes and then taking max sensors, making them in to a quasi spanish armada/conquistador force. It seems to work really well. The "exploration bonus" helps in both locating good colonies allows you to keep an eye on your enemies during war.
