Dems break out a few l'il white ones against George Allen

I finally remembered the points I wanted to make about the Virginia Senate race (in relation to my earlier article Maryland Dems resort to lies and distortions in Gov race).

It seems that the Dems in Virginia (and nationally, as the DNC has been very involved in the Virginia Senate race as they hope to pick off George Allen and perhaps gain a seat there) have the same general game plan as do the Maryland Dems - if you can't win based on the truth, just twist things a little until you get the outcome you want and can use to bolster your cause.

One of the biggest whoppers in the Virginia race has been the constant trumpeting in the TV ads, and radio ads, of the fact that George Allen has voted many times to give himself and others a pay raise while refusing to raise the minimum wage.

Ooops - point of fact, Allen and his friends in the GOP are actually among the most recent individuals that tried to pass a raise in the national minimum wage.  Don't remember that?  Perhaps because their cynical friends on the Democrat side of the aisle blocked the increase in the minimum wage because it was attached/paired with an extension of tax-cuts that would -- in the words of the Democrats -- have favored the rich.

Both sides are good at bending the truth, or at least painting the rosiest picture they can, but the Democrats sure seem to be doing their best this year to put out the flimsiest of facts with the forethought that their friends in the media would never call them upon it.

Sorry, but I'm gonna point out the truth here, and I sincerely hope that the lazy voting masses don't fall for the crap from the Democrats, but I wouldn't bet on that at all.  The Dems use these tactics because they work, and because they get support from their friends in the media that seemingly never met a liberal that they couldn't support.

Whew, those old brain cells eventually did remember the point I was going to make, but as usual, it took a while for my thoughts to get back on track enough to remember them

The DNC and Webb were also the ones using the old Bullet Proof vests stating that was what Allen was trying to give the troops, and saying that they were vintage Veitnam era ones. When in truth, they weree not made (the ones being shown) until the mid 80s.

And here's another funny idea that I caught during that pay raise bit of the ad. Since Allen is a first term Senator, he has not yet, technically, voted himself a pay raise. Since, due to a recent Constitional Amendment, pay raises do not go into effect until after the next election for that position. So, Allen's pay raise won't go into effect until after the swearing in of the 109th Congress, assuming he wins. Or, his opponent will get to take advantage of the higher pay rate.

That's a big problem with the way congress is run. The minimum wage has nothing to do with extending the tax cuts. I for one am against both. Why should a little town in Kansas have the same minimum wage as New York City? It should be based on the cost of living in the area.
