Mommy Blog: My son likes to draw

OK, these pictures have been floating around the house for a couple months, I'm trying to get organized but I couldn't bear to throw these away or simply file them to be forgotten.

So here they are, preceded by a brief explanation, otherwise they're just scribbly pictures with no meaning:

In August Michael took a liking to two pictures that were featured in a children's magazine, The Friend, and asked me to draw them. OK, so he TOLD me to draw them; he's the boss around here. I didn't want to be coloring forever, so I folded a paper in half so that my drawings would only take half as long to color, hence leaving half the page blank on each side of the paper. He was enchanted watching me copy the pictures over in freehand (I ain't no artist...this isn't about me), then he carried it around and admired it for awhile. Then it ended up on the floor in his playroom and we continued on with our lives.

A few days later I picked it up while cleaning and saw that some time when I wasn't paying attention he'd done his best to copy each of the pictures in the opposite pane. I was enchanted to see what he did with his free time one day when I wasn't looking.

I sure love my little boy.

So this won't get lost in the shuffle of all the papers I save, here they are: By the way, just a minute ago I mis-labeled it as July. Not possible though. It was from the August magazine, I promise :)

There's so much more worth sharing, but I can only share bits n pieces as life keeps marching on too quickly to capture every single moment. But I'd sure love to capture everything. I've already spent WAY too much time on this article, so I'm getting on with my life now :)

That is too cute Angela. What a little smartie pants you got there. Just give him a few years and he will be making fun of your talent! heh

How cute. Treasure every moment. Before you know it he will be 18. ~sighs. My oldest just turned 13. How is that possible. No more cute drawings but he still gives me hugs.

Yes, these are such adorable years. Every seasoned parent tells me to cherish them because they'll never be so cute again. I try to squeeze and hold every moment I can.

Just give him a few years and he will be making fun of your talent! heh

And he'll have every right to make fun of me once he surpasses my kindergarten artist level!

I'm glad you're still getting hugs! I hope he keeps doling out hugs for you until the end of time! I hope my boy will stay sweet like that too. People have warned me that time flies, so I'm holding on tight.

These are sweet. It's amazing watching a child's drawing ability change as they age and develop.

It's adorable that he did his drawings unprompted. What a precious little child.

Thanks Tex, kids are so neat sometimes huh? And yes you summed it up that he did the drawings unprompted. Now if only I could have said it in so few words...For some reason I felt like I had to tell the whole dang story! Thanks for sticking with me through the long narrative

I think he's going to be a fine artist one day! He does have some lines there! I try to keep my youngest's artwork on the refrigerator. Sometimes rambling along is the only way to tell the story Angela. Nothing wrong with that!

Tell M. good job from his friends in Germany. You didn't do too bad yourself. Make sure to save those in a memory box of stuff you can show him when he and his wife are expecting years from now. (Many hopefully, hehe)
