People in Hell want ice water, and People at JU want...

... idiots to stop wasting bandwidth on bashing

Someone apparently believes that he can speak for the people of Iraq, or I guess he believes that some pollsters are speaking for the people of Iraq in stating that the people of Iraq want the U.S. out of their country.

Gee, I suppose the next thing we are due to hear is that people in Hell want ice water, and that the people at JU want a certain moron to stop wasting bandwidth and go find another sandbox to play in with the incessant Bush bashing.

Just another worthless observation by Corporal Moronic, aka Captain Oblivious, aka Clueless Old Liberal.

How about we phrase it somewhat more appropriately: terrorists in Iraq want the U.S. out.  Terrorized citizens in the Iraq want the U.S. out.  Average citizens probably don't care a whit about whether we're there or not, as long as they have the basics and their necessities.

I want the Bush bashing to stop -- why aren't my demands just as important as the demands of the people in Iraq??

The thing is Terp, he brings it on his own self. Like I did/have. Call it stubborness, call it foolishness, call it what you like.

He either A) Really believes all that he posts. -OR- B) He just likes to start shit.

Maybe there is a C, or even a D. Who knows, I don't,only he does. He does certainly stick his neck out far, almost far enough to let the 'metaphorical' axe reach it. God knows I've done that.

Like I said to him in his thread, let it begin (again.

So if someone doesn't agree with you then they're idiots who are wasting bandwidth. I wrote an article about the same poll yesterday but no one commented.

Debate and different points of view are what keep this site interesting and lively. If everyone agreed, what would be the point of all the atta boys and patting each other on the back. I welcome a different viewpoint. I have even at times changed my mind about certain issues after reading what others had to say.

BTW, I do find that poll disturbing. Maybe not so much that they want the US troops out but when 60% say they APPROVEof attacks on U.S. troops that is extremely upsetting. I don't want our soldiers over there dying while the six out of ten people we are suposed to be helping are cheering. It's just wrong.

Heh, that reminds me of that one incident, i believe, in the 80s. In NY, where a woman was being hurt in an apartment building, and no one called, they all figured someone else was going to. It's sad, but...it's the world.

Call me cynical at times.

There is a difference between debating, and re-hashing the same refutable things over, and over, and over again. I mean, I agree, debate is good, but there is a point where it gets old once you start beating your head against the other persons ideaological brick wall.

Let him waste bandwidth.  If he was not here wasting it, he could be out actually doing something productive, and that would be worse!

Debate : is a formalized system of (usually) logical argument. Rules governing debate allow groups and individuals to discuss and decide issues and differences.

This is the part you seem to be missing, Col does not debate. A debate would require 2 or more people to put their points across and to listen to the other point of view and maybe somewhere along the line agree with each other. As you said "I have even at times changed my mind about certain issues after reading what others had to say", but Col on the other hand wouldn't change his mind if God came down and told him he was wrong. Hell, Clinton couldn't change his mind if he told Col he was wrong. I came here for debates, Col comes here to convert you. If Col was a Cult Leader, he couldn't get anyone to give him $.75 for a soda.

No, this really only applies to Col. At least you are willing to listen and maybe even change your mind, I don't think Col even changes his underwear. You might be seeing this article a bit too broadly.

I agree, still, even our boys out there would rather finish what they started rather than go home feeling like they were not good enough to get the job done. I get this from what I have heard and seen soldiers do after being injured and wanting to get patched up and go back to the field. of course this does not apply to all soldiers, just the ones I've seen and/or heard. I think that at this point we should be looking out for #1 first and forget the Iraqis for a while. they don't want us? Too bad, we already there and if they get in the way then they will be the enemy as well. JMO. Sad, but reality.

Loca - others have pointed out the problems with the Clueless One's attempts at debate.  It's one thing to debate (something you seem to have a decent grasp of) and another completely different thing to keep tossing up the same "facts" based on the same rantings and ravings that have been used hundreds of times previously to substantiate facts that have long since been disproved.

We're talking about someone that -- like Dan Rather and his producer Mapes -- still believes the faked CBS documents about Bush's service.

We're talking about someone that clearly is pathological in his hatred and envy of President George W. Bush.

Bring on intelligent debate.  Bring on effective discourse.  Heck, bring on lopsided and improperly designed poll results.  But... perhaps have a different messenger do it, and certainly have one that doesn't keep bringing up the same worthless strawmen arguments that always wind up back at the same place: Bush = bad, me = self-proclaimed genius hawking my latest book about all things wrong with Bush.

I suspect you meant "trying to do something productive" and yes, it is certainly a scary thought (considering the amount of damage and harm that could be caused...)

Why not ask your wife. I betcha, she'll have a ton of delussions to awe you with, along with the rest of the folks here. Always good for a chuckle.

Alas, I dug my own hole when I opened my mouth the first time here. *shrugs* You can't change some things, no matter how hard you try.

*nods to Terp*

Good bit Terp, adios.

Why not ask your wife.

I think that was her, she just forgot to sign out again.  Senility.
