'Dawn of War: Dark Crusade' Gold

Stand-Alone Gameplay + Two New Races

THQ has announced that the hybrid expansion to the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War has gone gold and will begin shipping worldwide on October 9, 2006. Some more good news for players who may not have picked up the original award winning title, the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Dark Crusade expansion will be a playable stand-alone game.

"We're delivering the visceral, cutting-edge RTS experience gamers expect from Relic Entertainment, and they will enjoy Dark Crusade whether they're fans of the series or are discovering it for the first time," said Tarrnie Williams, general manager, Relic Entertainment. "By making a hybrid standalone expansion, we've given the first time player plenty of single and multiplayer game-play options while providing a great deal of new content to the experienced Dawn of War veteran."

With the expansion players will be able to unlock two new factions, the mysterious Tau and the chilling Necron, bringing the total up to seven playable races. Players who own the other two titles in the series, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and the first expansion Winter's Assault, will be able to access new units for the previous five races as well as access them during online multiplayer action.
