What TV series are you most looking forward to [2006]

While I'm primarily wondering about new series and not ones that have been on in the past, I'll leave this one open to both old shows (returning shows) and new shows.

What shows on the fall schedule (Fall 2006) are you most looking forward to? Are there any that you expect to become runaway hits and become a must see show?

What are you most hoping that everyone will watch?

And finally, while we are at it, what show do you expect won't be around very long?

My answer for at least some of the questions raised here in the comments area below.

The one show I'm most looking forward to is Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. That one will premiere next week (Monday, 9-18-2006) on NBC.

I've seen the pilot episode already thanks to a deal that Netflix and NBC made. Both that pilot episode and the pilot episode for another new NBC show (Kidnapped) were made available on a sneak preview DVD from Netflix.

Both are quite good, though Kidnapped is a show that would seem to be much like Vanished, over on FOX. Having watched Vanished and not formed any emotional attachment to it, that show is already off my radar in favor of saving the time I might use for watching it to watch something else.

Studio 60... is from the same team that put out Sports Night, and later brought out The West Wing. While I never really liked The West Wing (couldn't stand some of the stars in it!!!), I really loved Sports Night and expected great things from Studio 60. The pilot episode didn't disappoint and I expect things to hit the ground running for the series. I really hope it becomes a huge hit right away and hope that as many viewers as possible find the show and give it the audience that I think it deserves.

As to shows that I expect will be gone soon, I think FOX's new offering Happy Hour could be on thin ice. While it wasn't horribly bad, it wasn't that funny to me. Vanished is also one that could find itself in trouble quickly, though it has a good lead in with Prison Break. It could find the going much rougher once the rest of the networks fire up their fall schedules -- especially once CBS is back with new episodes of their Monday night offerings, and worse yet for them, once NBC puts Heroes into play.

None really. I find most televsion to be pretty dumb and gave up on it when I discovered the brightness button doesn't work.

My thoughts exactly. The only show I really followed, Arrested Development, has gone the way of the dodo. And I can't watch Veronica Mars until I see season 2, and I can't see season 2 until I can afford the DVD, and I won't be able to afford it until . . . you get the picture.

I have a few shows that I really love, but I never watch them on TV, just DVD. I'm too busy to be sucked into a set schedule of having to watch said show at said time . . .

TiVo is your friend. You will be assimilated.

Seriously, other than sports events (and most of the time, not even those), we very rarely watch anything when it's originally aired.

That episode of CSI? I'm watching it at 07:00 on Saturday, not 21:00 on Thursday. Makes it easier. I can see the episodes I want to see, without having to worry about being in front of the TV at a particular time. I get enough of that with the guild on World of Warcraft.

I'm late to the party. I was just piddling around the forums and found this.

SanChonino - Blockbuster - you can rent the whole series for the same price as one movie DVD. You can make a marathon of it. Though I would like to eventually buy the DVD's after they've been out a while and I can get them cheap on half.com.

Terp - my must see show right now is Project Runway. I'm also looking forward to top chef 2. The new Amazing Race started Sunday. I'm looking forward to Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars. I really haven't seen too many new shows that caught my attention. Oh I did catch the new one, Smith with Ray Liotta. It was pretty good and I adore Simon Baker so that's reason enough to keep watching. Oh and I want to catch Ugly Betty and see if it's worth watching. I also want to catch 20 good years just because I loved John Lithgow so much on Third Rock
