the viciuos never ending circle

ever since i can remember i would always see people coming to our house to see my grandfather and ask for help, guidance and advice.he was governor of our province at that time.he looked to me as if he had all the answers to all those peoples problems because i never saw anyone leave with a frown.people would always say "thank you gov" before leaving.he has always told me to never let down a person in need.never let them leave my presence without an answer or an assurance that their problems would be looked into and solved. so i asked him "grandpa what happens if you encounter a person or people that has an unsolvable problem?". my grandfather replied "there is no such thing as an unsolvable problem,a person just has to give time and effort to find the solution".sincerity, transparency and most of all care for your people is what makes a good leader my grandfather said once.so this became like our family creed "to help our province mates to the best we can".for my dad told me the exact same thing when he bacame governor and i asked him the same question.this creed of ours seems to be in danger of extinction for when you look at what is going on in philippine politics (rampant vote buying, election frauds and the numerous violent acts related to an election) in the news.it makes the people feel helpless and hence easier to bribe (for their votes),coerced(into voting) and simply cheated out of their rights to a clean election.how will we ever as one country, one people be free of this vicious circle???

you start small. -beginning with dedicated people around you who share your own ideal. Maybe in your case , your entire province. Concentrate your efforts where you know the yield will be better recognized and better accepted. Maybe, the next time around, the people you've influenced could affect other larger areas. Be wary of people who instigate you to undermine an existing system that although imperfect, serves to bring about an order whereby your people could thrive. If reforms in the electoral process is in question, then support groups that would reform the electoral process. Your grandfather was right. There is a solution. Sometimes it's the patience that isn't there.
