IconPackager Finalists...

It's gotta be a hard choice, but my 3 favourites are mentioned. To explain my choice of colors for CS, I'd say I'm in a design/layout period where I don't like it very colorful, I wanna keep it subtle and easy on the eyes sticking with a few colors. Another great thing is it goes well with a lot of other skins that aren't that colorful.

Is that a joke or what ? ThunderStorm Icons are not in the finalists ????

I think they made a typo!? Instead of Seed there should have been ThunderStorm Seed have no place in the final!

I like seed a lot, I think it deserves to be a finalist, you don't see icons that look like seed's everyday.

I would love to know wich was the creterium used to define what makes an icon packager to be good or not. =(

Thunderstorm is really good. It did win, I believe, the best themed icons.

I can't define the creterium what make a good IP! That's more than my english can do! But I think Seed is simple and bouring and it number of icons are low compared to many of the other IP! But that's just my oppinion!

Seed isn't boring, it's simplistic. Which makes it stand out amongst the other finalist.

BTW, I should clarify something, Thunderstorm IS one of the finalists. The error was on my part, not the judges. Just was a long day and sometimes it's easy to look at a list and miss one. That and everyone knows my secret hatred of all things from Brazil.

I didn't want to take part in the discussion because I didn't agree with the last judgments. But when I Knew that the Tunderstorm was added to the list I coulden't be silent.I think fuss maybe effective. I was thought that U exit the winners from the list and let the other to win some medal.But I see that I'm absent only.I need reconsider. I like the tunderstorm very much and I will be glad that It gain the gold medal.But I think that My HFN Sapphire Isn't worse than all other In the list.

I think U shouldn't create a finalist section.This Is bad to me that I know I'm not in the finalists.U could do it like the past and write the winners name. =( I write this comment to say that I choose the treetog's PirateOs for the first one.It is better than the tunderstorm,because It has the nice color and more details. LOL

Personally i think showing the finalists helps because it shows that who ever doesnt make it into the last three at least have the chance to say, "hey wait a minute, at least the judges did concider mine as a possible winner." Instead of at the end when everyone differs their opinons "well why did so and so win, this person should have won!" you can say, well actually if you compare them to the finalists you can see why the judges made those choices.

Dear Frogboy, If U want to choose the finalists with the users votes U can't judge with these 32 votes. these Votes can't be a good index for a Exact judgment. I think the number of downloads for Each Ip is the Only proper way to judge them based on the users Opinion. Users don't have any say over the judges votes. The judges aren't likely reading this thread or the other thread. The point of the finalists was to show that yes, the judges are taking a very very close look and appreciating the amount of effort going in.

Popularity does not necessarily make a good skin. Let's take https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?searchtext=&sort=Downloads&order=Descending&library=1 for an example. We see that one skin is wildly more "popular" in downloads than the rest. Clearly this is a superior skin! But wait . . . what's the title of the skin? Why, "XP Professional". Now, how many 9x users do you think came to WC and searched for "XP" and found that skin? 8 out of the top 20 skins have "XP" in their name. I doubt that this is a coincidence. If you actually look at it, yes, it seems well-executed enough, but IMO, it's nothing special. Indeed, its rating is only 8, and while the rating system does have flaws, it tends to provide a pretty good judge of a skin over the long term. Download figures are great if you want to know how many people have downloaded a skin. Other than that, there are better ways to rate a skin, including personal judgement, and that is the basis of this competition.

I think most user like an IP where most of the icons are included - like in Cadinal Skins - and not just the common ones - like Seed - and I also think that they want something nice to look at and that can be blue, black or gray but not light-brown! Megaton is black but the red light'n it up and makes it usable - for some skins! ThunderStorm is gray but, can I say, lightning up because of the flashtheme! Many of the IP's are very nicely done and there are others, beside ThunderStorm - which I understand are in the final(?) - should had been in the final but Seed! Over and out for this year! Someone sure will be happy!
