Contest Rules

The rules are spelled out elsewhere but here are some of the details:

(1) Entries cannot have been previously uploaded elsewhere. After the contest is over, contestants are free to submit their skins anywhere they choose (and in fact, are encouraged to do so).

(2)Entries must be new content overall. They will go through moderation and the moderators will make a judgement call on that. What that means is that we're not expecting every piece to have every single element done from scratch. There's just not enough time. This is particularly true of the icons. One month is not a lot of time to do a fully new icon set. So icon authors can make use of their existing graphics design libraries but they must be generaly new (i.e. you can't just reupload something you've made in the past or just recolorize something you've uploaded in the past, it has to be generally new content).

That's about it. Good luck!

what if I decide GUI olympics are worth the effort to finish a previously unfinished skin, such as the ones I show in "skin in progress" on deviantART ?

The rules are fairly straight forward. You have to enter submissions that are NEW. They can't be things that already exist. That doesn't mean every single element of your skin has to be new (i.e. you don't have to redo every single component but the overall skin needs to be new). But they must be things that are only available on the GUI Olympics website (after the contest is over you can upload them wherever).
I guess the overall design needs to be new and previously unpublished.
