That's Metaverse stuff. The average score is derived from a formula (sum of individual scores divided by number or games exponent .4) If you set up a Metaverse character and play Metaverse games, you'll see medals relating to your overall game performance in the sig of your posts. I believe the military rank is derived from how many military conquests you've won. Your average score appears in the Metaverse rankings.

The other item (like citizen) is your rank in the forum. I'm not sure on the details there.

The access level ranks are as follows:

Exile/Visitor: Banned.

Citizen: Normal Rank.

Veteran: One step up from Citizen, but no added priveleges. Just a speed bump really

Diplomat: Gain access to private betas and a private (rarely used) forum. Most of the Diplomats now gained their rank during the GC2 beta, and tested the final release candidate builds of the game after the public beta ended. These users are mentioned in the game credits (in US Retail and SDC versions anyway) and have cameos in the campaign.

Ambassador: Same as diplomat, just another level to acknowledge extra accomplishments or contributions.

Governor: Normal moderators and non-GC2 Stardock employees. They can only perform basic moderation on the forum.

Senator: Super-moderators and GC2-related Stardockians who are not developers. They have more moderation powers and access to approve mods on the library.

Avatar: GC2 developers only.

If this MV is the same as the MV for GalCivI, I believe the military rank has to do with the total games played or won. It's another way to compare your score against others of the same rank.

Side request: Kryo, if you could have someone find or re-create the post I once saw regarding the list of medals, ranks, and access levels and then sticky it, I'm sure we'd all appreciate it.

Have a nice long weekend all!

so Kryo, if I'll test the Gal Civ 4 beta, I'll be a Diplomat?

and to be a Veteran, I need to, - what? I saw here people from 2002, and they are just a citizens... so - ?

and it might be something with the forum score? I'm 14 in the posts and 19 or 18 (can't remember) on the replies... so it means something?

Thanks!

Getting promoted has nothing to do with how long you've been here or how much you post, but is based on the quality (and quantity, to a lesser degree) of your contributions to the game and the community. So Veteran is really a bit of a misnomer. The people who made Diplomat generally did so during the GC1 days, or by great contributions during the GC2 beta (not just normal testing--there are plenty of GC2 preorders who are still Citizens).

Other than those loose guidelines, promotion is completely subjective, based on the opinions and whims of the devs and mods.

I don't recall anything about such a thread, though if someone can find it and bump it I'll gladly update and sticky it.

Well it took me 20 minutes to find that. I still can't find the thread that had the discussions about medals in it (spent another 20 minutes on that search...)

Oh well, I still think it would be helpful to have that info stickied in the forums as well.
