Electronic Arts has signed not one, but two separate deals to put ads into their video games. The first deal comes between EA and the well known Massive Inc., which is now owned by Microsoft. In the deal, EA will have at most four titles containing ads, the first being the latest iteration in the Need For Speed franchise, Need for Speed: Carbon, set to peel-out this October.
IGA Worldwide Inc. has also partnered with EA and will be delivering advertising for up to three games, including Battlefield 2142 which is also set for an October release. The ad-driven titles will only appear in North America and Europe with financial terms of both deals remaining undisclosed.
"You'll see more agreements like this with other titles in the future," said Chip Lange, EA's vice president of online commerce, adding that the company plans to negotiate with all providers of online in-game advertising.
