Coming late out of the Games Convention in Leipzig is the notion that consoles are just too weak to run Crysis, the upcoming FPS from Crytek, makers of FarCry. Bernd Diemer, senior game designer of Crytek, explained that "next generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 do not offer the sufficient power" for quality gameplay.

According to Diemer consoles won't be able to run the game as intended by the developers because they lack DirectX 10 support. The next-generation API, which is slated to ship with Windows Vista, allows more effects and objects to be drawn on the screen with smaller computational cost for the hardware.
