Wasn't there an upcoming sound theme manager?

Wasn't there a new program coming for sound theme management on the way? Just wondering whether it's still coming, or has been canned. Kev.

Vista is coming up fast. Some of our development time had to be diverted to making our other projects work on it.

As far as I know (aka not an official response ) it's still a project that we are doing, it's just not ready for release yet.

Ya, I'm thinking with over a year's delay on a noncritical app intro that it's for now been killed. Keep in mind they are still pulling together the bread and butter apps up to full Vista releases. I don't believe sound theme management has enough impact with users to justify any resources right now. My guess, just seems to fit the situation.

From the ODNT'08 Preview a little while back:

SoundPackager

SoundPackager has been floating in Stardock's labs for awhile. The screenshot above is not what the final version will look like. It is the sound equivalent of IconPackager -- it applies sets of sound effects to a host of common Windows actions. Stardock has teamed up with famed composer Mason Fischer to create a series of elegant replacement sounds on Windows.

As users of Windows Vista have learned (Vista has much nicer sound cues than XP which helps really make clear how much difference carefully done sounds on the PC can improve things), sound effects matter. Now, users will be able to much more easily create their own sets of sounds and share them.

Well what do ya know? If this is the case, (the same sound manager concept as it existed in spring 2006, no Vista back then, that sound manager in '06 was dropped), then Sound Packager '08 will be both an XP and a Vista release or Vista release only?

Soundpackager!!! That would be great and look forward to it. In the meantime if you are looking to add the Vista sounds onto your XP set-up here is a copy and paste of a post I made last week:-

I guess many people are customizing their XP setups to look like Vista and one thing you might not have thought of........is the sound scheme. It's pretty easy to do - Just go into the control panel - Sounds and audio - Sounds Tab - and go through the list and highlight each sound individually and change the sound from the media folder that pops up. Obviously you need to put the sounds in there first and if you want the Vista sounds go here and download it.........

The quality of the .wav sounds are excellent........

thanks for the link, but i prefer not to have to download software just to download a file, but for anyone else just type vista sounds downloads in your search engine and you will be able to get them without having to download the rapidshare software first

without having to download the rapidshare software

No [extra] software download needed at rapidshare ...it can be a nasty place to download stuff from though.

Having said that, I know Leo would never put anyone at risk -and has no doubt already grabbed these files himself. He's a long standing member of this community.
