Suite Artists Where Are You?

No new suites on WC since May?

I have no graphic arts ability myself so I have to rely on the kindness of others for my OS customization fix. But what's happened to all the suite artists/authors? There hasn't been a new suite added to the library in over 3 months.

Yes, I know I can run various different Windowblinds / ObjectDock / Bootskin / etc. themes without them being compiled into a suite, but I really enjoy having one consistant theme throughout the various Object Desktop components.

Maybe suites ought to be another category for the GUI Championship contest in order to get people building them again?

Regardless - a BIG thank you to all the artists on this site!

The artist has to have an interest and skill in all the associated components.  Some do and some don't.  these days . . It seems like more don't.  ;)

The skinner not only needs to be able to make a full suite but it takes a LOT of time to build one up.

What might be more useful now is someone who has worked on 'part' of a suite to build the suite itself with all its various parts into a package. There was such a 'team' that did this awhile back (starone and elvee come to mind). One of the reasons I mention this is alot of the current 'suites' are bits and pieces made by various artist.

Just a thought ;)

WolfmanZ to continue with what Zubaz wrote, even if the author of a Windowblind Skin doesn't have the desire to do other skins to complete the theme, they do get done. Why not PM the skinner and see if they would consider pulling the parts together and download a suite. I agree with you that suites are nice. (Pretty much what MyColors is about)

You have one other option, you go out to the skinners who have made skins to go with the WB and get permission to put the together a suite. You put it together and download it to the gallery library.

I have no skining talent or desire but pulling everything together for a suite is something that everyone can do. One of these day I just may try it myself.  ;)

I'm finding a lot of WB's, pre-Vista,and from earlier versions of Windowblinds that still hold up well today. Some recolor very well. WB6 goodness and a new WP and/or icon package and a player skin, etc. could breath new life into a lot of great work. wulfn1 has a blog covering "forgotten skins". You may want to check it out,LeeDee

"If you build it ,they will come." I'd look forward to that. elvee and starone put some sweet packages together, but the one's I tried won't play well with Vista. Need to jump forward a couple of years . I hope the original authors won't mind being "recycled" ;)

How's about a trip down memory lane? Some familiar names in the crowd. Btw, Zippo icons look great with Turbo. Well, back to rummaging around the WC closet. :D WWW Link
