How will Dark Avatar effect the metavese?

I'd like to add one, what about modding suppourt for metaverse games? because there are going to be a whole lot of custom races with this and since this expansion is suppoused to make modding easier overall, there will be more mods. So will there be a possibility of using certain mods like Kryo's hull mod without the cheat flag tripping?

and yes I know it's a shameless plug in there to get KHSM to work on the metaverse without the cheat flag tripping, lol

With GC1:AP, there weren't any changes to the metaverse that I recall... of course, the only major difference was that it became easier to score higher with an alliance win due to having more races in the game. The case may be different with DA as far as difficulty/scoring changes, so it remains for the devs to decide.

Metaverse games will most very likely remain unmoddable, aside from graphics and custom races. I haven't given up yet though on trying to get at least blank hulls added to the game so we can build jewelry-only ships in MV games legitimately (without replacing existing models that is).

I have a question too,

the Dark Avater expansion, will it replace the Dread Lords? I mean will it be a new game or just like another version update but more then that? you got it? I just want to know when I install Dark Avater, and then I don't want it anymore... cause I want to play the Dread Lords metaverse concept (must be a new concept right?) so will I be able to get the Dread Lords metaverse concept again?

It is sounding from Cari's latest journal that DA will replace GC2 directly when you install it, unlike GC1:AP which was a separate 'game' that simply required the original. Like I said though, I do not know if the metaverse will be changed or segregated as yet, or if that has even been decided.

I think there will be 2 .exe's so that youll be able to choose wich 1 to start. Just like in GalCiv1 with AP installed.

Edit: Didnt refresh the post. Kyro, does that mean once the expansion is installed, I wont be able to play the original game no more??

Cari talked about running the GC2 campaign under GC2:DA and making sure it works right, so I'm assuming there won't be separate exe's this time. And while the campaign will be available, I don't know if you'll be able to play under the GC2 rules/mechanics or not once you've upgraded. I'll have to ask her about that tomorrow.

My post was designed to find some info on how Dark Avatar would meld into GC2.

I personally hope u have the option of playing GC2 v1.3 (or whatever) or GC2:DA v1.0 (or whatever), will there be no more version updates for GC2 players after Dark Avatar? Or will updates continue for GC 2 and GC2:DA seperate from each another?

Lots of players do play the metaverse, a few special medals awarded to GC2:DA players would be nice? Or would this take too much time to do?

According to Cari, DA will replace GC2 completely when you install it. The DL campaign will still be available but if you want to revert to the old game mechanics you'll need to keep a backup of the vanilla game to run. Also, DA and GC2 scores will not be segregated on the metaverse, they'll all be put together.

If it's anywhere near the enhancement Altairian Prophecy (AP) made to GCI, I wouldn't sweat it. Even though I had the option of playing AP ~or~ GCI after I DL'd AP I never played the original again.
