Weapons Specialized ?

What are the chances that the Expansion might attempt to address the issue of specialization of hulls and various weapons. For example a Capital ship hull vs a fighter or bomber hull. An Capital ship gun vs a AA gun? Considering that all advantages and upgrades are nothing more than calculations into hitpoints and damage assesed is it not possible to give a fight hull certain speed and advoidance of enemy fire bonuses and give bigger capital ship hulls the chance to use belt armor and large scale weapons? Basically certain weapons would be more effective against certain hulls, an added level of strategy. Think of WWII when a BB would wonder off with out air cover or AA guns and get sunk by a lucky patrol. Its, if you think about not that different from the game right now. Build no shields and your enemy comes in with plasma weapons and you get schooled. Now it would be if you dont create fighter escorts or AA guns your capital ship is easy pickens.

Had this exact same idea a while back, the only reason not to do it that I can see is with getting the ai to use it properly, however I beleive it would be well worth it.

Such a change would be a major step towards tactical battles since your latest bigest badest battleship could be taken down by a few bomber wings if it wasnt protected properly. What is more it would give us ship design nuts a valid reason to spend even more time in the designportion of the game.

I doubt such a feature would stand a cat in hells chance of getting into this Xpack but maybe the next one

Lots of us would love such a thing, but as ElMambo noted, it's a lot to expect from an expansion pack. GalCiv III is probably the likeliest candidate for such a thing. It is practically grafting a light version of Homeworld into the game, after all.

It's just funny. Our expectations from GalCiv1 was praticly nil (since it was the first of the serie). But what we got was just amazing, and we simply expodentially increased our expectations from GalCiv2, which we got..

but the problem is, for GalCiv3, we will still increase our expectations expodentially... That begins to be a lot..
