If you're mad at gas prices blame CHINA...how DARE they start developing NOW when my 2007 Shelby Cobra GT500 Mustang needs lots of gas. Not to mention my 2 SUVs.

roflmao- Isn't that the truth! Dang you China! Right now, the cheapest gas is in Des Moines for 2.013 a gallon.

So, GENIUSES....gas prices have dropped signifigantly as of late. Does that mean that Georgie and friends decided to not make money for a while? Rhetorical tools....

Gas is now under $2/g here now ($1.999) at all the nearby stations.

Don't expect that to last as the demand for oil and naturnal gas for heating homes/offices increases as we move into fall.

I just filled up in Northern VA. for $1.94 a gallon.

My humble opinion, Bush did what he had to do, good, bad, or indifferent.

The UN is corrupt and a waste of time and should be dismantled.

There are 3 clean sources of energy. Water, Sunlight, and Wind.

I think GalCiv2 is a really great game!

HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT! (Thats a joke people)

Yeah, I noticed a significant drop down... but I am still paying roughly 4.5€/gallon...
this would be like a bit less than $6 US/g...

But on the other end, to compare this is not fair in a way... cars here are using 2-3 gallons per 100 km, some even less.
I guess it's a lot more on the other side of Atlantic.

yeh i think us europeans get the better bargain we get a lot more miles to the gallon.

Before anyone start bashing Bush, take into consideration other factors like the growth of China. If you want lower gas prices, go bomb china. Then maybe we can kill 2 birds with one stone. Lower Gas prices and get rid of the god damn chinese gold farmers.

Venuism, your right about that.. Too bad the advantage of being European is that you got the French in your neighborhood.
maybe you get better milage but us gas tax is for road work

that is the only gas tax we have

not saying that is the only thing it goes for but it is the only tax collected at on gas

which is about $.60 a gallon here

sorry but you guys have to pay for that social medician somehow

Actually no. I have a *van* that gets ~35km/gallon on the highway. And I've seen non-hybrid cars (with automatic transmissions!) rated above 50km/gal. If you can afford a hybrid, you can get cars with double that efficiency still.

In Central VA

JP-5 is 2.02 Gal
Diesel is 2.45 Gal
Reg Unleaded is 2.24 Gal

Liberal Americans. Better luck next election. I for one will support who ever is Commander in Chief even if it is a Dem.

Yeah but How much income tax do you guys pay? My buddy in London gives about 60% of his salary to the Crown.

I'm in NY city and I only donate about 36% to Uncle $cam.

I just gassed up for $1.99/gal in Indiana. Instead of $70+ to fill up my truck, it was $50. My twin turbo is still hard on the wallet though since it needs premium.

@Kryo: Good to know there is some progress undergoing... it's better for everyone

@Skyjack: here we go! it's complicated to compare living costs when you try to get the overview on every aspect: VAT, gas, taxes, insurance, salary, services...

It could be that your buddy in London giving a lot of taxes might receive more money from the state/crown when he retires than you will...
At the end, it balances out... anyway, we are all living in good conditions and should be happy about it

edit: oh, I almost forgot... /me slap Achillus

Wrong: he says most of their money goes to "social programs" to suport the millions of people "on the dole", the government cheese (welfare). He is not happy. If the ultra-liberals in the USA had there way,we'd be paying 90% taxes.

You see, the liberal ideaology is, "you're not smart enough to spend your money wisely....WE will take your money and distribute it where you dummies need it most"
This creates a culture of dependancy, which liberal governments thrive on. It also kills, to some extent: entepanuership and the drive to compete and achieve.

Personally, I'd rather have MY MONEY in MY POCKET.
He still can't get his teeth fixed...typical "British teeth"

And ANYONE who relies on ANY goverment to take care of them is(especially when they are old) asking for trouble. Many Americans now have 401k plans. So they can save TAX FREE for old age.

If you beleive the typical stereotype of "Jolly Old England" even though you have a friend from london you deserve a slap round the face!

Personally I think the price of gas is too LOW. When you consider how useful gas/oil really is, it's tremendously undervalued. It cracks me up when companies start folding because gas prices go up and they whine that energy prices are incredibly expensive. Europe's prices are higher, and their economy isn't in a shambles. You could argue that Europe's geographically smaller, but Canada is pretty big and we pay more for gas too. When your entire economy is based on an undervalued resource, it's a house of cards waiting to collapse when a correction comes along. Too bad there aren't economic resources in the solar system......

the economy in eurupe may be doing great as you say but theirs has gone up about 3% during a time of gain

while the economy in the usa which has been in a depression has gone up 7% so whose economy is doing great

as for being in the red that is mostly becouse of pork

also the total taxes in the usa is around 60% counting all taxes

As for the whole gas price "crisis" here in the USA... Well, ever hear the song "Dirty Laundry"?

I think that it is great to see that prices are falling all over the US....for now.

An election coming up soon that will determine who controls the House and the Senate and the falling gas prices....coincidence, most definitely not.

If ever anyone needed proof that maybe, just maybe, the current government does have something do to with the gas prices this is it.

It's the end of summer driving season, and various reasons speculators had driven up prices just never materialized (weak hurricane season, no supply problems). The government's got nothing to do with it.

One more thing, and I am not avocating any terrorist at all, but those people were not savages, there were normal people fighting for what they believe in the only way they know how.

ok, so your contries may not have the right idea. I come from probably the greastest country in the world, it's called Australia and we pay 1.45 for the litre of pertrol and last time i checked Aus. wasn't a oil pool, but we are still able to keep it at that price for 12 months and the aussie goverment is reducing the tax put on it to lessen the price and is giving out grants to move to LPG (I think it's about two grand) and hybrids/green cars.

And anyway I think the UN is a waste of time and should be refomed to from the united earth union and focus on the destruction of illegal substianses, stem-cell researsh, genic engineering and most of all poverty and corruption. Hey it's a step forward in globalisation.

Um, that's no bargain, Mate! There are 3.78 litres in one US gallon. So you are paying the equivilant of $5.481 PER GALLON! We're paying about $2.50 right now.
