Well, the results' show is over. This time it was Jon Peter Lewis' turn to get "screwed" by John Stevens.

I was surprised at the bottom three tonight. I thought that Jon Peter Lewis and John Stevens were "immune" to getting into the bottom three until there were six contestants left. I wasn't so surprised that Diana was down there, but I was surprised to see that she polled higher than either of the "Johns."

Jon Peter Lewis' elimination was inevitable, but in a way I will be sad to have him off of the show. Even though he was a pretty poor singer, he had a reasonably likable personality.

Next week is Barry Manilow week. Two of my best karaoke songs are sung by Barry. Those songs are: "I Write the Songs," and "Copacabana."

Thinking about a Barry Manilow theme this morning, I was contemplating which themes would be good for future seasons of "American Idol." Some of the themes that I could come up with are "Queen" week, and "The Beatles" week. I also think that a "New Divas" week would be good (B.S., Christina Aguilera, and Pink.) I'd like to hear George Huff crank out a Britney Spears song.

Bad themes? Maybe "Anthrax," or maybe "2 Live Crew" night...

O.K. I agree...Why is that red head still there!?

I knew JPL wasn't going to win but I thought he would be longer than a few of them that are still there. He left with style though!

Same here....I agree too. I think JPL should still be on there. I was sure that John Stevens was going to be voted off, but shockingly it was JPL. Yeah, I was also supprised to see Diana down there. I think she's a pretty good singer. Untill next time....

I won't miss JPL. He may have been an interesting personality, but he stunk as a singer. John Stevens better be next. He just doesn't thrill me with his old style copycat singing.
I wasn't surprised Diana was in the bottom 3. She has lost the touch she had at first as a singer. Jasmine has fallen off some also. Personally I feel Latoya, Jennifer and Fantasia will be in the last 3 with George Huff making a strong statement to be there also.

I think the idea of a Beatles theme would be awesome. Although since Michael Jackson owns the songs wouldn't it be helping him out? lol

Wouldn't a Pink Floyd theme be interesting? They'd never do it, but would certainly be different.

I believe that a line should be drawn between an American Idol judge being a judge of talent (or so-called American Idol x-factor) and being a judge with a license to be deliberately mean on national TV.

What Simon said to Jasmine in tonight's Final Four episode which went something like "you better hope that every household in Hawaii has five telephone lines" (and more) was not only mean but blatantly cruel.

Jasmine is a 16 year old kid who obviously gave her best shot despite insurmountable odds. We all know that she has been getting some slack lately. However, this does not give the right for an American Idol judge to not only pin her on the wall, but pin her down on the wall repeatedly (with no measure of decency or respect) till she broke (in tears!) on national TV!!!

I should say that Jasmine has proven to be an exceptionally strong person to take insult to injury with grace and character (without answering back).

As a responsible society, we should be careful of what we feed the mind of millions of television viewers, a significant number of which is our youth.

Tonight's American Idol episode simply said that it is alright to break a person (or snuff a a 16 yr old kid's spirit out) with no smidgen of respect in front of the whole world. That it is alright to do all these in the name of national TV!

Indeed, we do need to redefine our understanding of our "American Idol".

What happened tonight was a showcase of "un-Idol" behavior. Worse than Janet Jackson showing her breast during the Super Bowl half time.

Maybe more people would have read this had you posted it on my May 11th entry rather than my April 15th one.


The harsh criticism is part of the appeal of the show.  Simon says what gazillions of people say every day regarding any individual singer.  The harshness helps to keep the singers humble.


Jasmine's tears were in-part caused by Simon's criticism, but I am sure that she was disappointed too.  She wanted to win, but her performances have been off over the last few weeks.
