U.S. involvement in Iraq has been incredibly successful and developments there have been "nothing short of a miracle," Sen. James Inhofe said Monday.

Enough said!

Wait...maybe he meant that it's a miracle more people aren't dead. It's amazing that he's actually been to Iraq like 11 times. Then again, maybe he doesn't actually leave his hotel room when he's there...who knows.

It's doubtful they'll be invading Kuwait again any time soon...

Well the guy does look like he came from another planet, I give you that much. Then again just like you don't know what he does in Iraq, you really don't know what goes on their cause you're not there. You go by what you read in the news, most likely the ones that are to you taste. I'm sure you probably read 10 stories and pick the 3 or 4 that match your ideas while ignoring the rest. But everyone has the right to their own opinion.

BTW, nice to see you again. I haven't seen your name around for a while, wonder why?

Inhofe was being bluntly sarcastic?

I've been very busy with work. I'm even more busy right now actually, but I need this to keep my mind off of work sometimes.

Inhofe was being bluntly sarcastic?

From reading the article, it sadly seems that he was very serious.

Have u been there, davad70?

if by 'there' yall mean iraq--and you're dismissing davad's point by implying one gains some sorta special insight or wisdom by virtue of having spent time 'there'--it's very disheartening for me to discover a united states senator (even an embarassment to the office such as yourself sen inhofe) with enuff free time to go around sniping at bloggers who point out whatta moron you are senator.

Wisdom,no. Insight, maybe more than most peoples 'outsight', Iraq is a terrible situation true, but does that make it is an overall bad thing? Why not look at all the good being done there...oh, that's right, no one reports that stuff. Guess you'd only know about it if you'd been 'there'. Points being be careful describing a place you have never been and don't believe everything that is reported as truth, because it's not.

This Senator landed in Dubai by mistake.

He saw the fancy new Hotel there (the one on the island), and thought: Sheeit, this Baghdad is not too bad.

I have concluded that this Senator:
a) Does not have a compass.
b) Is a friend of Jeb Bush.
c) Is Lyndon Johnson's lost son.

The Senator should read the August 3,2006 report by the Pentagon:

Pentagon Study confirms the violence in Iraq is MUCH WORSE

Discussion: Politics

Today the New York Times reports that a new Pentagon report shows that attacks against our troops and attacks of Iraqi-on-Iraqi is far worse then ever. The article by Michael R. Gordon and Thom Shanker is sighting Pentagon reports that show Americans killed has increased from 287 in January to 518 in July. In July alone, 2,625 roadside bombs were discovered and 1,666 of then exploded before they could be disarmed. The August 3rd report says," THE INSURGENCY HAS GOTTEN WORSE BY ALMOST ALL MEASURES" It went on to say, " The insurgency has more public support and is demonstrably more capable in numbers of people active and in its ability to direct violence then at any point in time"

Thus after the new government was selected, new government leaders put into place, after over 200,000 Iraqi troops and police trained by the U.S. and with 130,000 American troops in Iraq, the violence is getting significantly worse.

When will Bush see that the time has come to admit failure and allow the people of Iraq to settle their internal disputes? We can not and are not moving toward ending the violence and the longer we stay in Iraq the more American deaths and treasure will be wasted on this tragic mistake of George W. Bush!

It's a shame that the founding fathers weren't alive to admit failure when the US had a bloody civil war almost 100 years later. Sometimes a nation has to go through horrific things to finally unite itself democratically. Unless you believe that the Iraqi people are somehow less intelligent or caring than us, you can assume that eventually they'll decide that it is better to make change democratically instead of blowing people up.
