The Story of the Mithrilar, Arnor, Dread Lords, Humans, Altarians, and Drath

The Galactic Civilizations Universe - The Journey from Then to Now

Being the last of the good Mithrilar, I Mascrinthus, know the truth.

If you read the dev journals you can piece together the truth.

At the end of the GalCivII campaign, DL Bradley travels to the Dread Lord's pocket universe. Over time he learns all their secrets and more. He becomes as powerful as the Mithrilar and escapes from the pocket universe into the distant past. However, over the eons his sense of the passage of time causes him to go mad! DL Bradley has become Draginol!!! He creates the Arnor and the Dread Lords. At the end of the Arnor vs. Dread Lords war, the Dread Lords are sent to the pocket universe and Draginol is sent to the Drath's home world. There he creates the Altarians in his image; they displace the Drath and rename the planet Altaria.

At the end of the GalCiv II campaign, the Thalans try to stop DL Bradley from entering the pocket universe. In various posts it is suggested they are time travelers and they seem to know of the loop in time.

Is this storyline going to be continued?

Also, it would be a lot easier to read if it were compiled in a single thread, or perhaps made into a single .doc or .pdf file.

I'm not the author of the story line. Brad, a.k.a. Frogboy, a.k.a. Draginol, is responsible. Lately he has been posting about the adventures of DL Bradley in the present time (early 21th century) but in an alternate universe. Based on his comments about history in Chapter 7, DL Bradley was born in the year 2188 in our Universe.

Wait, this doesn't make sense. Why is the guy called Alan Bradley throughout GalCiv2? And if he becomes Draginol, then what happened to the crew of the other ships?

Alan Bradley is the leader of the Terran Alliance. DL Bradley is an officer who travels to the Dread Lord's pocket universe to learn their secrets. Alan Bradley and DL Bradley are not related. I have not seen any clues from Brad as to the fate of the other humans that entered the Dread Lord's pocket universe.

Mascrinthus, can you update the links in the OP? A forum update broke them. Here's some working links:

The Reluctant, Chapters 1-6 (and 7 and 8)

The Galactic Civilizations Universe - The journey from then to now

The Dread Lords, the Humans, the Arnor, and the Altarians

Also, these two links are good additions:

Elemental Inspirations

Elemental Inspirations II

These old links still work for me in Firefox 3.0. What are you using to access the links? Impulse?

There was a forum update last year that shortened the links and caused the old ones not to work; however, the old ones appear to be working again.

I updated the OP to the new shorter style links, plus added an old link from Impulse Driven and finally your two new links.

Thanks Phaedyme

I was using Firefox 3.0, but they weren't working at the time.

It may be that someone noticed that older links were broken and fixed the problem, which is yay, because digging around in older posts is a bit rough when all the links go nowhere.

Thank you for organizing these links in the first place - it was handy to find all the backstory compiled in one spot back around, oh, when this thread was newer. :)

I hope to read more of this, this is most interesting but hasn't been updated for a long while.  Please give us more of this story.

More of the story is up to Brad.

We'll probably see more once GalCiv 3 is in development, I suspect.
