The Wishing Well

and a blog entry

Just a short rhyme today then a breif blog entry.

These visions are smoke screened,
with coughing fits of pipe dreams,
and we all watch our lives in wide screen.

The subtitles are in small font,
so small that we miss the moral and the plot,
and the portal we have sought...

has closed forever,
or cracked its hull and sunk to the bottom of the river...

which runs to the wishing well,
but we can't stand the sight or the smell...

of our own wishes,
hungry for a Mr. or a Mrs.,
but my guest list is...

Full,
and you're dismissed until...

Further notice,
and bring the final chapter back into focus,
Hope must...

be the driving force,
arriving of course,

whenever it was predetermined,
not fatalistic,
but superstitiously burdened,

to accept the efforts I've made,
and credit the rest for the path they've paved.

BLOG ENTRY: Failed Attempts

Not sure if anyone has seen the movie Travenscence (or something like that) which has many of the same actors from the French film Amelie, which, is one of my favorite movies. So I like "chick-flicks" so what?

Anyway this movie has a lot of implications about what can result for the littlest alteration of our universe. Just the smallest thing someone does that may appear insignificant may have drastic affects, for better or for worse. Also it plays with the notion that not all attempts at good deeds have rewards...nothing new there, but I learned the hard way today.

During my lunch shift I noticed a 2nd grader who rarely has anyone sitting next to him. I noticed that both sides of him were vacant and trying to use my status in the elementary school (most of which was achieved by my regular bike rides down the hall) I went to sit down next to him. As I was sitting down, he said, "no don't!" I sat down and said "Why?" "Because there's syrup all over the bench right there!" To my dismay I was fairly stuck to the bench as I went to get a washcloth to clean both myself and the bench off. When I cleaned it kids seem to fill in the previous gaps between this unpopular child...so all in all, I suppose it was successful.

There's something else I was going to mention, but I'm outta time so I suppose that's enough for now. Gee, my rhymin' sure seems to have common themes lately. Though I have been very chipper today and am really enjoying it. It might have something to do with the Jolly Roger (skull and crossbone) cycling socks I got in the mail today that the kids seem to really dig. Arrrrr!

Peace,
Suspeckted

Awww, Ted! That's so sweet of you...trying to integrate a kind like that. Kids at that age (boys especially, I find) can be really quite mean to each other. I know my kid has sat alone at lunch a few times, and it breaks my heart to hear him tell me "no-one wanted to sit with me at lunch, mom". It sounds like the kids all look up to and respect you..prolly 'cos they think you're cool.

I wear silly socks too, especially if I have to wear a very conservative outfit, like a suit. It's my attempt at rebellion, I think.

I like the attempt at rebellion....I may not be successful in my rebellions, but at least I attempt them.
