So, once again, it’s our fault. Hezbullah kidnaps Israeli soldiers and Israel retaliates, and it’s the fault of the United States. And once again, the US concedes Israel’s stand by agreeing to the cease fire terms demanded by the Arab states. The Arab countries in turn make these demands because the “street” is against Israel and America in all things. So, it’s all our fault.

I’ve just about lost the faith. Let’s leave. They don’t like us? Then let’s just go home. Leave Iraq to the civil war they seem to crave. Leave Afghanistan to the Talaban and the drug lords. And yes, leave Israel to fall. Extend asylum to them and allow them to come here, but let’s just stop beating this horse. But also, let’s leave North Korea to it’s own devices. Let China and Japan deal with it when their tanks roll into Seoul. Leave Eastern Europe to the EU to clean up. Let them find a way to keep them from killing each other. France craves the job of superpower so much? Let her take it. Let’s see how wonderful the world is when Paris calls the shots.

When terrorists are blowing up trains all over Europe, how will Paris respond? When tribal war breaks out in Africa, what will Germany do about it? When governments in South America are completely helpless in the face of drug cartels, what will the UN do? When the world is dominated by religious, criminal, or communist tyrants, who will the world ask to stand for them?

Careful what you wish for world. With the mood I’m in today, I for one would love to give it to you.

I do have one question though. We have the greatest media establishment in the world. So why can’t we get our side of the story out to the rest of the world?

I don't know if I want to talk you out of your cynicism today. I kinda feel in that mood right at this moment!

However, if I was in a good mood....darn it, I'll just agree with you and let it be! The last sentence is great! If only the media would get it right!

Do you honestly think it matters how long we stay?

If I had faith that we could somehow turn Iraq into some thriving, happy democracy that the Iraqi people supported and worked to keep going, then I'd say we should stay as long as it takes seems how we're already over there.

If, no matter how much cleaning up, no matter how much political wrangling, no matter how much humanitarian efforts, no matter how much dying the US does in Iraq, things are going to fall apart, then what's the point?

What do we, the US, get out of this whole Iraq deal? How is it benefiting us?

Is the US home to some sympathetic military force that swoops in to selectively "free" oppressed nations, and the benefit is only satisfaction from our noble deed?

Is it just for the US to spend so much time, money, and American lives on something that doesn't do anything for us beyond giving us the hope that someday we'll get warm fuzzies about it if things are actually worked out?

And no, the "stable, democratic Iraq" thing is not a benefit to us, because Iraq is not a stable, democratic place. It's more dangerous to Americans NOW than it was before we stepped in.

So, we diverted manpower and resources from Afghanistan, a war we fought in self defense, to Iraq. Now Afghanistan is a mess. And we want to stick our noses in the Israel/Palestine conflict?

Please tell me where we're going to get all these troops to deal with all these conflicts? And please tell me what the ROI is in Iraq.

I have to agree with this. I myself am tired of all of this noble, unappreciated "help" we are giving to the rest of the world. I think we should just head back to our own borders, change some laws to stop anyone, undocumented from entering and just wait to see if anyone has any beef with us so that we can just swiftly go in drop a few bombs, level a few cities and warn them that if they try anything again that we will level 10 times more next time. We should just give up the whole " it's our responsability since we are the biggest" crap and let others who's problems are closer to them deal with the problems themselves. If they need help, ask and we will do what we can and no more. This is a you're on your own kinda world and we might as well live it that way.

Cause it does not sell. The Media is like video game makers and movie makers, they serve what people want. People want violence, blood and destruction, you get games like Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty and Doom, you also get movies like Starship Troopers, Scarface and Demolition Man. This is what sells.

I just can't believe it's that simple though. Otherwise, why did the Cole get attacked? Or the embasies in Africa? Our media has faild us for longer than the last 6 years. My unanswered question is, is it through neglect or design?

Please tell me where we're going to get all these troops to deal with all these conflicts? And please tell me what the ROI is in Iraq.

If I had a good answer for the second question, we would find a way to answer the first. At times, it seems that the world wants the US to be humilated more than it wants peace in the Middle East, so they keep finding ways to pull us down.

That was not addressing the question of why they were attacked.  That was addressing the question of why we cant get the message out.  Did you see the effigy burning the press gave Clinton for Kosovo?

Exactly, why be accused of doing something that is barely 10% of what we are really doing? Might as well be the bad guys from the get go and finish our jobs faster, more efficient and with less loses on our side. After all, no matter how careful we are we are still gonna kill "innocent" civilians, we might as well kill them while reaching our goals. We gonna get screwed by the media and the rest of the world anyways.

I do not pretend to know lots about what goes on in the world but I do have an opinion so here goes:

Israel perceives it can do what ever it likes as it believes rather firmly that it is above the laws of man and other countries and has the full backing of the USA. They have behaved like bullies in this latest incident.

Yes please do that as the less people interfering the better, let them just get on with it. Pull the troops out of the middle east, they are not helping the situation, they are enflaming it due to the hatred the extremists feel toward USA as must the Brits pull out. its too hot in the kitchen!

Fight fire with fire - use the intelligence services to assassinate terrorists with subterfuge, make it look like accidents etc. but keep wiping them out. Go underground like the terrorists do, hit them when they do not expect it. stop putting the troops at risk all the time. keep them at home to protect your own soil.

the term "go home yankee" seems to be something that keeps getting yelled out every so many years, it is time for USA to learn from mistakes and stop making them again and again.

I do not like Bush either, and I do not like Blair. The mix of these two together is very scary, they are leading the world down the garden path with their lets fix things attitude which amounts to nothing less than interfering(spelling) (and they have a habit of dictating to the rest of the world?)

Yes CNN are very good at what they do.

Why should the smaller countries who are growing and developing have to kowtow (spelling?) to bigwigs like us in the USA,UK, Germany, France etc.

Did we really make an effort to stop China growing militarily? No way, they were left alone and for very good reason, their bite is really worse with the arsenal they pack!
Why do we keep the little guys down and stop them from emerging as a new power to be reckoned with?

Well, I suppose because we don't believe that some of these other countries would use nuclear weapons as bargining chips. We believe that regimes like North Korea, Iran, Lybia, the former Iraq, etc would use nuclear weapons as, well, weapons. Or if they used them as bargining chips, they would be no bargins.

But for some reason, the world doesn't seem to agree with me right now. They aparently feel safer with the likes of Hezbollah and Iran than the US, so let's see how they like a world where Iran has nukes along with oil and see how they are so much kinder to the world. I'll concede that this is a contributer. But that begs the questions "Why do they hate Bush?" and "Do they hate him so much as to want to destroy the country with him?" I'm beginning to suspect that Ann Coulter is on the right track. They don't hate Bush because he's Bush. They hate Bush because they hate the US.

We gonna get screwed by the media and the rest of the world anyways.


That's almost exactly my point. Why does "the media" = "the rest of the world"?

Keep our money at home, rebuild our infrastructure.

That is an interesting Chicken and Egg question.  Do they hate the US, and therefore Bush since he basically makes the US stand tall?  Or do they Hate Bush and therefore anything American?

At this point, the answer is moot as the end result is the same.  However, should we get another Clinton in the Whitehouse, that would sure tell the tale.  But that would be like cutting off your nose to see if it hurts.

Uh, yes I can.  You scared of the challenge?  I issued it.  Now try to prove the Media is NOT spreading Anti-American Propaganda.  You might start with a fired Reuters Employee, then move on to some staged photos for CNN, the Ny Times, and then go to the force feed of the Pollywood video, before ending with the AP being exposed for the stooges they are.
