WindowFX 3.0 Choppy / Slow with nVidia GT6600

I'm running WindowFX 3.0 (Registerd w/OD subscription) and am really dissatisfied with the performace with transitions, animations and window dragging. Whenever I try these, regardless of which settings I use, there is a very noticable pause just prior to and again just after the movement of the window.

Specs:
Intel Celeron 2.93GHz CPU
nVidia GT6600 256MB
2G RAM
Hyundai B90A 19" LCD Monitor

I am running the latest drivers for both the video card and the monitor. WindowFX Performance Advice shows that everything is accelerated and everything that the API needs is fully supported.

With WindowFX set not to modify these settings, everything runs very smoothly. Shadows work great and windows open,min/max,drag very smoothly.

I have the same issues on my work machine with similar specs except it has ATI video cards.

What I'm really hoping for is to use the "Basic swaying windows when dragging" feature to make it perform similar to Compix/Xgl on Linux.

Can anyone make a suggestion or am I out of luck? Thank you!!

Our own tests have shown the performance of the nvidia drivers is poor and we have contacted Nvidia about this.  The problem is our app is not Doom 3.

If your ATI card in your work PC is a 9800 or later, it should be fairly smooth.  If it is integrated ATI video then you may find you run out of memory bandwidth which will result in poor performance.

Hi,

I'm using the trial version of WindowFX 3.0 and only seem to be experincing slowdown/choppyness in the animation when I minimize a window that has the desktop behind it. If I minimize the same window with another window maximized behind it there is none of the same slowdown/choppiness? For example I have firefox open with no window behind and I minimize it so the desktop shows there is slowdown. If I have both internet explorer and firefox open and maximized and then minimize either one so the other is showing there is no slowdown or choppiness in the annimation. Is this a limitation of my hardware, is there something more demanding when performing the animation with the deskop in the background? and most importantly is there anything I can do to tweak it?

Thanks for any advice you can offer,
Mike

FWIW I have a Core2 6300, 2GB ram & Nvidia 7600GT & Wfx runs perfectly
