Ricky Bobby rules... Talladega Nights rates big thumbs up

Going into the film with very low expectations, as I usually find Will Ferrell's humor hit or miss, I was incredibly surprised at just how much I enjoyed Talladega Nights, the Legend of Ricky Bobby.

It was great fun, my friend and I both caught it for a matinee today and came out thinking it's one of the better films we've seen in a while. It's not heavy drama, but it was quite fun. Well worth the full fare if necessary. Be prepared to laugh hard and long.

The movie runs a little long, but not overly so. Great performances all around and a few surprise characters/actors in the mix.

Go see it, have a great time and try not to laugh too hard.

Oh, one more warning - if you go see the movie there are some outtakes and bloopers at the end of the movie during the credits. Stick around and enjoy those before leaving the theatre.

OH SHUT UP!  I HATE WILL FERREL!

But it was a good movie!  I actually liked it more than my son who dragged me to it!

I'm usually in that boat too Dr. Guy. I didn't care much at all for Anchorman and wasn't all that amused with Will Ferrell's bit part in Wedding Crashers either.

I have liked him in some bits in his SNL days (especially his portrayal as W. during the 2000 election debacle), but he is very much hit or miss for me, normally miss.

Much better than I had expected in Talladega Nights though, and worth catching again. Definitely a movie I plan to get on DVD and may even pay to see more than one time on the big screen.

I enjoyed it too, but I'm a big fan of Will Ferrell's comedy.

It was too long, though. Waaay too long.
