v1.3 beta 1: Three cheers for some new choices

Just discovered that as soon as I research Impulse engines, I have a choice for what goes into a colonizer. I can either build a Speed-6 colonizer (like I used to do) with a short range, or I can build a Speed-5 colonizer with two basic life support modules.

Don't know exactly when you put that in there, because I was so used to just using my upgrade to speed-6. Great to be able to build more than one kind of ship.

I still don't get what this has to do with 1.3

@Numbfreeze,
You have played a lot of games, and are quite good at it.

Have you noticed a change in the way you can design your starting colony ships?

This isn't new, it has been possible since 1.0.

you could already do it by designing your own ship from scratch.

I always build ultra fast scouts using cargo hulls early on (upgrade to survey after sensors is discovered) and relatively fast colony ships (the colony module eat up a lot of space, make them much slower than scout)

Do you have a miniaturization bonus with your race? Because there was a 'small' change in the way miniaturization is handled.
