Suggestions for new forums

It's great.better, what else do we need?

I don't want this to be a break/fix thread.
It's not sanctioned by Wincustomize nor is it on their list of things to do. But maybe we'll have some good suggestions that they will implement.

I'll start:
It would be nice if the navigation at the top of each forum was duplicated at the bottom.
It would be nice to have the current time near where the last reply time is displayed.

"so duplicate issue threads are created."

are NOT created, you mean?

I still think the thin gray line in between replies needs to be beefed up.

Adamness, I'm just going by the location of the user pictures at the moment.

What I mean though is, to be more clear, is for me it's showing this as the last post info for this forum (Site Issues):

by liquidguru

it's showing the last topic created, rather than the last reply posted to a thread.... i hope that make sense Bebi

Yeah I understand that, I just don't think it makes much sense to show the last created topic instead of the most recent post. :\

Okay, sort of off topic, but:

How about a premium suite based on the style of the titlebars, buttons, etc?

Anyone seen MikeB314?

I'm wondering if the whole site is going to use this 'theme' soon...

In another thread Brad said the next version of WC will be skinnable itself.

Overall, I think we need to do a LOT more so that skinners, moderators, and other key people in the community get more kudos on the site.

The new forums were designed with speed in mind first and then we can start addign in other goodies.

Sounds like a good plan to me!

I have another question about the timestamp issue (I know it's beating a dead horse) but would it be possible to allow the users to select their time zone so the timestamp will be correct for each user, or would that be too much modding?

Keep crusading for this and it might get implemented. The more people cry out for these kinds of features, the more likely it is that it'll get implemented.

dd/mm/yy is my preference of date formats. I would like to be able to customize this to my liking, but I'm not sure how much the coders want to make forum-specific personalizations.

You'll all notice that we switched to a less basic time format for the posts. Shouldnt be any more confusion.

Yes, exactly.

I'm confused about something, when it shows the poster information on the forums page, is it supposed to be the original author of the thread or the author of the most recent post? For me it seems like it's showing the original author, wouldn't it make more sense to show the most recent poster or is it just updating a little slowly?

If the heading says 'Last Post Info' then its the author of the last post.
If the heading says 'Last Reply Info' then it's the author of the last reply.

Yay! Moderators have titles in front of their nicknames now! ^_^ Should the brackets be around the title though?

What we really need on every post is a link to 'recent posts'. I use 'recent posts' all the time but it's a load of clicks to get to it.

Well I will put my vote in for this also.

Thank you very much for the "Mark all posts as read" and the nav links at the bottom of each page!

Count me in.  It was really a giggle when there were NO posts 'today' for me...when it was 2 in the afternoon...

If it weren't for my using a label.dll in Litestep that shows me my time AND SD time I'd be completely lost...instead of only mislaid...

It is, look at the bottom of the page.

So far so good, the navigation at the end of each thread page is a big help. Same with the new improved "Recent Posts" (as compared to just "Today's Posts").

Now all we need is the time format and time zone thing so I can actually decipher when a post was made. *cry cry*

Keep 'em coming!

Edit: Is anyone else using FF 1.5.0.4 having problems going directly to an unread post or a recently made comment after posting one? I assume it's supposed to do that, seemed to work on IE but FF just won't do it, I keep having to press the "End" button to get to the new posts. :\
Reply #94 Top
I just updated to Firefox 1.5.0.5, so I'll be watching for any new hiccups.

I have similar problems, I think Bebi... havent specifically looked for it. I'm gonna go check!

My FF just updated but still having the same issue. It's annoying but at least the End button gets me to the bottom fast.

How odd, when using the IETab feature in FF, it takes me to the recent post without a hitch. o_O Same for editing/posting comments.

Things are shaping up, here. Nice work, guys, and thanks for being so responsive to your users.

This text should appear in Impact size 3 - testing FF 1.5.0.5 in standard post mode.[/size]
Only minor glitch there - the size tag. Edit: seems it was operator error there.

Auto-scroll to your just-posted reply would be nice to see again, if I may so request. These pages can get pretty damn long. Thanks again.

Daiwa, I think thats being looked into.

Suggestion #100

I'd like to see the "Active Members" list shown on the Main Forum page at the bottom of the "Most Recent Posts" page since that's where I spend most of my time.
